In Acts 7:58 it says as Stephen was being stoned the witnesses were “piling their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul.” What does this piling of cloaks symbolize or mean?
Although there may be other deeper levels of meaning, basically it means that the witnesses wanted to free their arms to better hurl the rocks and so got Saul to protect their cloaks from theft while they murdered Stephen.
