Yes–even if they shun you–continue to love them and pray for them. Not long ago, my wife received a letter from someone she had recently befriended. The woman is a non-denominationalist. The letter informed my wife that the relationship is being terminated and she wants no part of my wife’s friendship or religion. She went on to say that my wife does not serve the same God. She said my wife’s God is small and weak (as opposed to her mighty and all-powerful God). She said that my wife was an idol worshipper because of the Icons. And she said that my wife was involved in a false religion.
We were flabbergasted at such ignorance! But we still pray for her and her family. Obviously, the friendship won’t continue.
Oh ya there out of there minds, can’t do anything by pray for them.
My brothers wife converted from the Protestant faith. We never put no pressure on her. It was just really she was spending much more time with my fanily at holidays etc than her own. But religion wasn’t the topic of social outings. Anyway she gets full steam ahead with this conversion. She’s there weekly at my mothers house talking about the faith, priest over my brothers for dinner etc.
Anyway so the family turns around and completely disowns her. Won’t even talk to her. Which neither really were overly concerned about, they wern’t depending on inheritance or anything, it was just the idea of it.
Whats really sad in my niece is living about 5-minutes from them in Tampa now. They won’t even acknowledge her should they run across downtown?
To me where that hate connects with forgiveness and love your enemy in the NT is just a bit telling about some of these denominations.
I understand fustration and we all have our moments. But Geez?
But yes, its being the better person, really. At some ppoint we all experience that individual who be it a family member, a friend, who’s lifestyle is just plain corrupt. It touchs every family in some way. Same thing, what could you do buy pray from them and love and support them. That doesn’t mean you enable them though.
