What to do for my dead grandmother?

My Catholic grandmother died yesterday, peacefully, after living 95 years.

As a new Catholic, I am not sure what I can and should be doing for her.

I will, of course be attending the funeral, in another city, where she lived. It will be a Catholic funeral, arranged by one of my aunts.

Are there prayers I should say in case she is not yet in heaven? Her death, while not unexpected, was sudden and fairly instant.

I understand that we can later ask for her to continue praying for our family as well? I understood that she asked her mother to intercede for her for years. How do I do this?

Are there any other customs I should be aware of for the future, perhaps regarding the anniversary of her death?

Thanks for you help.

Have a Mass said for her on her birthday, the anniversary of her death, or another date that was important or special for her.

Yes, have a Mass said for her, and continue to pray for her yourself.

Go to the church rectory, and schedule to have a Mass said on the anniversary of their passing.

Pray for them.

Also, when you can, light a candle in the church for them from time to time.
