lol here you go St.Joseph some mauldy holy water! 😃

Why do you need to dig a hole in your backyard and bury holy water? can’t you just pour the water down the sink?
Would it be better to replace the plastic bottle with a glass bottle?

Why do you need to bury it?

Oh and where do you get holy water from? and what do you do with it and why? holy water sounds awsome šŸ™‚

I bless my kids with it. I make the sign of the cross on their foreheads, chest and lips. WHen my daughter has nightmares I sprinkle a little on her pillow. I don’t know if it actually helps prevent nightmares but it does make her less afraid.

We used to use Holy Water all of the time. That was when my dad was still alive. Cuz my dad would bless the candles that had a picture of the virgin mary on it and he would also bless our rooms with it. Oh yeah and he would always bless my handicaped brother with it. So its like a tradition to use holy water. But since my dad has passed away we haven’t used any holy water at all. Can we just ask a Catholic priest for some Holy Water?

So now we’re worried about a few algae?

Oh brother!

When are you guys gonna get real?

ALGAE-BRO!
Isn’t that another thread? 😃

You should pour all sacramental liquids directly into the ground. It is a sign of reverence to God. Liquids that go down the sink would (in most cases) end up with the rest of the grey/sewer water. The real question: is the water still Holy when it ceases to be just water? (e.g. moldy water)
oh ok then lol don’t want holy water in the sewer do we now?
lol its just me to lazy to dig a hole hahaha!

I want some holywater but I don’t think my local parish supplies any! 😦 and secondly wouldn’t it be strange for a 15 year old to ask for holy water? the local priest (who just recently left) used to give me the strangest looks when I visited the church and asked for spiritual advice or to go to confession!

My local preist was soooooooooo scary! :crying:
I just hope the new one will be nice! :o

I have a plastic bottle that contains holy water, but the bottom is turning green (with mold I guess).
I am sure the water is still holy water in spite of the mold, am I right?
What can I do with that bottle?:hmmm:
Is there a way to clean it or do something to make sure it will not turn green again?

Thank you for your advice! :bounce:

I would guess that this is water from a shrine and not Holy Water blessed at a parish. Usually water blessed at a parish contains salt which prevents this from happening. Adding salt (blessed or unblessed) to shrine water will also prevent this. If you do not wish to use this any longer pour it in your potted plants I hear it works better than Mir…grow.

I was told you start with ā€œregularā€ water and just boil the hell out of it (pun intended šŸ˜‰ )

You don’t have to actually bury the holy water, but you must at the very least pour it into the ground. You don’t pour it down the sink because it is in fact ***Holy ***water. Pouring holy water down the sink so that it can get mixed in with the waters from people’s toliets, showers, sinks, ect… shows no reverence to the fact that that water has been blessed by a preist.

You shouldn’t even have to ask for it. There should be a Holy water font somewhere in the church where people can easily get hold of Holy water. But if there isn’t a font, you shouldn’t have a problem getting some from a Preist.

I have the same problem. I have my daughter’s baptismal water and it’s growing algae! I was just going to pour it out into the ground.

We sometimes will pray the prayer to St. Michael while we walk through the house sprinkling Holy Water. You could do this as well until the bottle is gone.
If the holy water is green, shouldn’t you substitute a prayer to St. Patrick?
