sorry you won’t like it but someone with a porn habit like this–one so deep it has perverted his family–is nobody your children especially your daughters need to know. I would have their father let him know that if he ever so much as makes an off color remark let alone sends them anything wrong on the internet, he will be prosecuted in the fullest extent of the law. I would have long ago kept this person and his sick kids away from my children.

puzzleannie:
amen.

If that type can`t be talked into changing their ways, they may have to be left to drown in their
own effluent. Our own close loved ones have to come first. It might even do the silly
beggar some good if he were cut off - sort of like excommunication. It might help to bring
him to his senses.

The bit about the millstone comes to mind, too.

Of course, we must pray for them.

its just porn. be same thing if he was on drugs.
I truly don’t consider it “just porn.” It’s a horrible facet of society that is just increasing in leaps and bounds, especially with the advent of computers. It actually changes the way men view women (and girls, unfortunately, like your daughters) and their entire attitude toward them. Have seen it in my marriage, and I almost think I would have had more sympathy toward my husband if he had started to be into drugs rather than pornography. It’s a very long road trying to help someone turn away from the temptation of it, and it doesn’t sound like their Uncle would even be interested in turning away from it at this point in time. I highly recommend protecting your children in every manner possible from him.

Although it is a slightly different (but related) issue, we have also started a support group for any women here at CAF who are dealing with the issue of a loved one using porn, so if there are any wives or girlfriends reading this who are trying to figure out solutions and ways of coping, please feel free to join at the top of this page under “Groups”-
“Women Suffering Because of (a Partner’s) Unchastity.”

Your first duty is to protect your children, not protect a family member from the consequences of a sin they are mired in and see no problem with. It is considered a work of mercy to admonish the sinner, not cower behind “they’re family” and “they won’t listen anyway.” You don’t know what God may have in store for him. It may be that he persists because no one has had the strength to tell him no. And you, as a mother, have the absolute right to call him on the carpet for any nonsense he spouts about your daughters. Practice what you want to say…“Uncle Joe, it gives me the creeps when you talk about my minor daughters like that. It gives me the creeps to know that you think of your own flesh and blood that way. You need to take a step back and reevaluate your lifestyle if you want to be part of their lives.”…get your MommaBear on. Stuff like this infects families and no one ever wants to confront it. Your family will be in my prayers as you cope with this.
