What to do when you miss a novena day?

Not sure if this is the best place to place this but, if I forgot a day during my novena would it be better to double up the next day or add another day to the novena to make up for the one I missed?
 
I missed a novena Mass because I was obliged to be at a very important Mass in another parish. I told the local priest and he gave me a dispensation for the missed novena Mass.
