What to do with all these Rosaries?!

Hi everyone,

I’m not entirely sure this is the best sub-forum to post this question, but here goes.

I make Rosaries. Don’t ask me why, I just love making them (the wiring kind, looks very pretty). I love beading, beads, and the Rosary, so hence, I make them. As a result, I have way more Rosaries than I know what to do with.

I tried opening an Etsy shop online, but I’m not much of a marketer or business woman, so selling them has been unsuccessful. And I don’t even care about money, I just want some sort of an outlet for this compulsion I have to make Rosaries! I can’t help but feel Mary has given me this compulsion. 🙂

So I asked her…“tell me what you want me to do with them?” I keep coming to the conclusion I need to post my question on this forum (no pressure).

So tell me, do any of you have any creative ideas for how to propagate these Rosaries I’m making? I also have a Catholic blog/Facebook page for the blog (so that might be an outlet), but my creativity stops there.

Thanks so much, and God bless!

Tara

You could donate them to a Church for use in an Adoration Chapel, RCIA or CCD classes.

Give them to whomever interacts with the local funeral home.
We often have a rosary prayed at wakes, and many people who come do not think to bring a rosary or simply do not have one. We take any and all donations and keep them in a plastic shoebox for such occasions. We drape them over the first pew in the visitation chapel, and those who need one are free to take one to keep, or borrow one for the evening.

Hi, Our Lady’s Rosary Makers website has a list of missionaries requesting rosaries. They are very much in need. I have also distributed them to the homeless who were very glad to
receive them.

If you don’t want to mail them directly to the missions, this organization will send them for you:

to needy missions around the world.
Also The Lewis Company which sells rosary parts has updated lists of missionaries in need.
God bless you.

I myself am in desperate need of a rosary since mine broke a few months ago. If you are selling one, please let me know.

Maybe your parish or a diocesan ministry could sell them for fund-raising?

I know our Divine Mercy Adoration Chapel would love some. Every time we have a new rosary donated, people take them. (Which is the purpose of having them.) Each rosary lasts at most three days. When people decide to start praying the rosary or a chaplet, finding a rosary is not an obvious thing to do. I had to search when I felt an overwhelming compulsion/desire to pray the rosary. They don’t sell them at the corner market. I finally asked a Priest before I thought of using the internet.

Places like the locations mentioned above by posters could always use rosaries.

It would be awesome to get the entire world to say the rosary. The problem is that you need to do it one rosary at a time. If there isn’t a rosary available, you may lose that person.

By the way, I think your hobby is pretty cool.👍

See if your priest would like them, our priest hands them out to catechumens. I know a lady that visits the sick and elderly in nursing homes and she says people request them all the time and she is trying to find an inexpensive source, as she is on a fixed income herself.

Giving them away would be great. or offer them to your parish to sell…

  1. Your closest Catholic Street Ministry or Outreach
  2. Recovery Homes (catholic)
  3. Catechism/RCIA Classes
  4. Hospital/Hospices
  5. Keep three or more on you to give away at the right time. Always works for me. When you are in conversation with a lapsed Catholic who is thinking about returning.

Would you mind posting the link to your Etsy shop? I have one rosary that was a gift but I’m looking at buying another so I can keep one at home and one in my car for when I am away which tends to be often.

I believe there are also prison ministries that request rosaries to give to the prisoners.

Depends on the State. In our state, we are not permitted to bring in any religious materials, reading or otherwise.
Your chancery office will know.

I make and sell rosaries and that feeds abandoned babies my family rescue… love beading!

I had actually thought about that, as our Adoration chapel has a lot of new Rosaries every week. RCIA/CCD classes, however, I never considered. Thanks!

Neat! I don’t interact much with funeral homes, but I’ll keep that in mind!

Cool! I have heard about orgs like Mary’s Rosary Army (I think that’s what it’s called), but not these. I will contact them for sure. Thanks!

I’ll tell you what, I will send one to you. For some reason, the link to my Etsy shop doesn’t show my Rosaries, so I will have to fix that. When I do, I’ll forward it to you, you tell me which one you want, and it’s yours! 🙂

Yes, they have a parish “craft fair” every fall. I’ll have to keep that in mind for sure.
