Hi, I just had to end a rather toxic and emotionally draining friendship with someone and I managed to give back some things that belonged to her. However, I have a small item of furniture (a coffee table) that she gave me (supposedly) a couple of years ago when I moved; but she added that if I got a new one, she wanted the old one back.
I don’t know if I can keep the table anymore, because I badly need to move on from the relationship and the item will simply be a reminder. But since I have cut off contact with
this person, it would be hard to get it back to her. Recently (before the rift), when she was needing furniture, I offered to give her back the table and she said, “That’s yours, isn’t it?”
or something like that.
I really want to do what’s right. Can anyone give me some kind and useful suggestions? Thanks and God Bless you.
