So, back to the original point…
Can anyone point out a listing of the appropriate gestures and postures for the mass. I am also interested in the various gestures people sometimes make. I have seen people make signs of the cross at certain points, others strike their breast, sometimes once, sometimes many times over, some do yet other things. Is there any reference that would suggest what the correct things are in this regard?
The only ones I normally use (during the mass) are the sign of the cross at the beginning and end of mass, the bow during the creed, the bow before receiving communion, and a sign of the cross after receiving communion.
I have heard mention of other things that were done in the past, but I don’t know if any of those past traditions are still in line with the norms.
