I just saw on my wifes phone a conversation with a guy, and she gave him permission to molest her among other things. I don’t know what to do and I need some guidance. Would I ever be allowed by the church to get a divorce for infidelity? How would some of you handle the situation?

Wow. There is a lot riding on this one, and if I were in your shoes I would hesitate to just get advice on an internet forum without checking it out with someone else who knows you and the situation in person. That person could be a priest, deacon or counselor. You need to giver her the benefit of the doubt as long as you can, but you also need to balance that against your need to trust her. That calls for someone who knows both of you as to how to proceed.

I am very sorry you have discovered this and have to walk on this road, as I think it will be hard for a while regardless of how it works out.

Agree with him.
Pray about it:gopray2:

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this matter. It truly is heartbreaking. You and your wife will be in my prayers. :byzsoc:

Like Truthstalker mentioned, you need to get advice from someone like your priest or a deacon, or a couselor, who can remain neutral and impartial.

If I were to give you advice, I would tell you don’t be hasty in your decisions. Without knowing your wife’s intentions towards this other man (fling or more permanent relationship), your beliefs about the indissolubility of marriage (and your wife’s), the things your wife believes she has not gotten from the marriage that drove her to this, and other matters (which I strongly urge you to discuss with a priest, deacon, couselor), nobody on the internet can tell you how to handle this situation.

Thank you all for praying for me, my wife was abused as a child and she didn’t really have anyone to show her the way. She converted to Catholicism right before we got married, tomorrow or very soon she is getting an anointing of the sick, and going to confession. I believe very strongly in the sacraments, and I know the only way to truly heal is through them. Thank you all again, God bless you all.
