What to do?

OK, so religions that are very old are correct? Nah, you can’t believe that, now can you? The older the more correct? Close to as old is close enough? C’mon!

no, the religion that teaches the truth revealed by God, author of truth, is correct. the religion founded by Jesus Christ who is in his Person the complete revelation of truth is correct. the doctrines held and taught by the Catholic Church are true because they are revealed by God. take it or leave it.

Ihave in fact studied a great deal. I spent 11 years in college and I have three degrees. I have over 600 college credit hours. Lots of psychology, philosophy, sociology, history, literature, lots of sciences and math. And I have studied religion, especially Catholicism.

that’s great, admirable, then you know from this study that the more you study the less you know, and that knowledge is not a matter of credit hours, but what is taken to heart and becomes part of one.

You are much like the people I grew up with. Very Catholic, and very low life.

ah and we come to the heart of it all, your quarrel is not with doctrines but with persons, in particular a few random individuals you know from childhood, and a few off hand comments from strangers on the internet. at the root of all true religion is love, is relationship, and as long as, and to the extent that, you harbor resentment and hatred, you will not find room for love, and hence no room for the Relationship that is religion.

I don’t accept the Catholic teachings about transubstantiation, infallible papacy, purgatory, prayers to Mary and the Saints, and confession to a priest.

Other than those things I could be Catholic. What’s a person to do?

I grew up around Protestants and they always condemned confession, but when I studied for myself I saw that it was Biblical and advised.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

I recommend visiting the Bible Christian Society and downloading the MP3s available on that website that cover the topics in question. Titles to look for: Mary & the Bible/Purgatory & the Bible, The Sacraments and the Bible, The Communion of Saints, and One Church. Oh, and get the one called Apostolic Authority and the Pope too.

Or… you could just be Lutheran.
