Besides reading the Bible, what are some books I can read during Lent?

There are so many good books to choose from! I am reading about St. Gemma Galgani; she was very mortified and charitable. There are many Saints who can encourage us in this area e.g. Bl. Alexandrina (The Agony and the Glory), St. Lydwine, Sr. Benigna Consolata…

I’m surely forgetting a number of classics, but I don’t want to bombard you.

I plan on reading a book of lenten meditations by Archbishop Sheen called Lent and Easter Wisdom from Fulton J. Sheen and a book by Antonin Sertillanges called What Jesus Saw from the Cross.

I read The Story of a Soul, (the autobiography of Thérèse of Lisieux) last year. Her suffering and sacrifice was so inspirational to me during Lent.

“Jesus of Nazareth Holy Week: From the Entrance Into Jerusalem To The Resurrection,” by Pope Benedict XVI

This is the 2nd book of the three volume set.

I’m waiting on my copy of “Characters of the Passion: Lessons on Faith and Trust” by Bishop Fulton Sheen.

Thanks. I just requested this book from my library.
