What to say if somebody says to me..."How did the kangaroos and koalas get to Australia? "

…Noah took the animals onto the ark, the earth was flooded, he released them afterwards.

How did the kangaroos and koalas get to Australia?

  1. I don’t know. (covers everything)
  2. God put them there.
I absolutely do not believe in what the Darwinists call ‘evolution.’

Evolution does not work for me.

God created animals.
The idea that God created animals and the idea that animals evolved don’t conflict with each other.

However if you take story of the Flood literally, I can see why evolution wouldn’t work for you. However, the Catholic Church doesn’t teach that the Flood literally covered the entire earth, killing all animals in creation.

That is true.

However, even if it did, recall that human life, having come to rest in Central Asia after the flood, somehow managed to get to the New World (and to Australia). Apparently whatever the flood was, at some point after it the land-bridges that science talks about were able to form from Russia to Alaska and from Vietnam through the islands to Australia.

The Jewish calendar notwithstanding, we don’t know how long ago the flood took place.

Pangaea + Evolution = Marsupials

God doesn’t need to be limited to creating things out of a poof of smoke. Creating through evolution seems so much more astounding.

Not really.

Evolution - when you bother to really examine its actual claims and its heated proponents - is just silly, and bad science at that.

I’ll bite.

Going by today’s teachings about evolution, how is it bad science?

You cannot be a Catholic and an evolutionist.

Either God created animals (which he did) or they evolved from other sources.

In Genesis is says that the flood covered the whole earth.

Science goes against God.

Is the Pope Catholic?

Pope Benedict said this: ‘This clash [evolution v. creationism] is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such. …]Above all it[evolution] does not answer the great philosophical question, ‘Where does everything come from?’

The Pope has ruled that a Catholic can, in good faith, accept one or the other.

Or are you more Catholic than the pontiff?

Of course, you are welcome to read the Bible literally. But its not a requirement of the Catholic Church. Pope Benedict is comfortable with evolution as an explanation of how life developed. He cautions that this doesn’t mean we should exclude God’s direction of it.

Evolution is perfectly compatible with Catholic teaching. Catholics don’t have to believe, nor are they required to reject it.

I think you have stumbled over your own post.
Maybe you should read the whole text again.

Please refrain from this —> …] As it is can be used to manipulate any text.

Cant we all just get along and say that we believe in the ‘Science of God’? He created the animals and how they ended up in Australia is something that we are just going to have to ask him face to face when we face him in the next life.

Hehehe I bet God is looking down at us smiling and chuckling.

God the Father: Uh oh my sons and daughters over at CAF are at it again
God the Son:You would think that they would wait to ask us once they have crossed over the veil
God the Holy Spirit: Wait until they find out Im not literally a dove. I cant wait to their faces when I tell them that
Mary: Um, Didnt you descend upon my son in the Jordon river?
God the Holy Spirit: Ok now Im CONFUSED!
God the Father: Looks over to Jesus Im getting too old for this.
God the Son:…
Mary: Oh great now Im confused.
God the Son: Lets just forget that we ever had this discussion.

God doesn’t need science.

One thought and he could create or remove anything.

He doesn’t need to plant a seed and wait for the tree to grow, he can just make the tree appear where and when he chooses.

What God does is a miracle.
What science says is it has to go from the first step all through to the last step.

God doesn’t need to plant a seed, but I certainly believe he still created a process that creates all living things on this earth and science is a study of that process.

What does the Catholic Church teach? This subject is brought up regularly. In the 1960s, in Catholic School, I was taught that a global flood was survived by Noah and his family, and the animals on the Ark.

Fortunately, I don’t rely on science to explain the work of God

God bless,
Ed.
