I’m finding myself to be very angry and frustrated with the Muslims. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure no one says boo about Muslims - but meanwhile they join forces around the world and riot, kill, bomb and freak out over the slightest insult to them or their faith. And they do these things VIOLENTLY while feeding us the usual line of, “Islam is a religion of peace!” These Muslim reactions remind me of temper tantrums thrown by spoiled little kids. I’m sorry someone made a cartoon about Muhammed - but grow up already! Quit calling for bloodshed over a stupid cartoon!!

I would certainly protest if someone made a nasty cartoon of the Pope. I would even march down the street with other Catholics with a sign in my hand. But I certainly WOULD NOT call for the death of anyone or the wiping out of any culture/race as a result of an insult to my faith!!! Nor would I tolerate any Catholic who did call for such a thing! Yet the Muslim world, which is large, doesn’t say a peep - until someone from the West complains. Then they jump up and cry out, “Don’t blame all Muslims for the actions of these people who aren’t really Muslims anyway!”

When Muslims are offended they band together and call themselves “Muslims.” But the second that the Western world says, “What you are saying and doing is wrong” they suddenly start pointing fingers and saying, “But those folks aren’t Muslims.” Make up your minds already, Muslims! Either you are or you aren’t Muslim - the title does not depend on when the rest of the world gets disgusted by your actions!! Talk about wishy-washy. Will the REAL Muslims then stand up please?? I find it highly convenient to claim “They aren’t really Muslims” when Muslims are caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Either you are or you aren’t a Muslim. Quit jumping the fence and have the guts to take responsibility for what you say and what you do in the name of Islam!

I spent a lot of time on Muslim forums asking all of the hard questions. Every time I asked a question like, “Why was it ok for the Muslim man in England to slit his daughter’s throat because she was dating a Christian boy?” I was immediately told, “Oh, well, he wasn’t a real Muslim.” Meanwhile no one had once stood up and said, “This Muslim man was wrong for slitting his daughter’s throat…” No, instead they blamed The West and bashed on The West until someone from the West made them look at the CRIME that was commited. Instantly the man went from being a Muslim Man who was dealing with the evils of the West to “he’s not a Muslim man.”

How come the Muslims of the world, who are huge in number, do not band together to stop these so-called “non-Muslims” from boming and killing and rioting?? How come the Muslim leaders of the world do not join forces and make the Muslim extremists behave? How come the only time you hear a peep out of Muslim communities is when they fear backlash or want to claim “non-Muslim” status for the Muslims who have angered the world??

So, do we continue to delude ourselves that Islam is a religion of peace and that it is not a threat to us??? Or what??? How do we Catholics deal with what is happening to the world right now, thanks to Islam???

ISLAM = Submission. And this submission is by force…

Yes, there are peaceful Muslims. But where are they? Either they are scared of retributions or they are closet supporters of the fundies.

And yes, whenever a group of Muslims bomb an elementary school, decapitate a Christian, burn buildings, run planes into offices, hang people, pillage, blow up icons from other religions, destroy the Palestinian people, etc, etc, etc,…I laugh and say “This is a religion of Peace”…WELL SHOW ME THAT IT IS!

Most of the rest of the human race looks on in pure TERROR at what many of these people do to others.

I am tired of hearing the ‘Religion of Peace’ thing too. It’s time the peaceful ones stop this mantra and get off their rear ends and make a ‘religion of peace’ possible by ridding itself of these fundies. Pure and simple…

In my opinion, the fundies believe Islam is a peaceful religion…ONLY peaceful when every non believer is DEAD, DEAD, DEAD…Makes you wanna convert, doesn’t it.

Joe

What do you expect of a religion started by a war monger who was also a false prophet.

That link is great but I’ve heard it all before. The Muslims are very good at offering answers to these problems - but when do they acctually LIVE out the answers and put an end to this insanity?? There seems to be three kinds of Muslims:
Code:
The Muslims who Kill and act out Violently
                         and
The Muslims who stay silent and do nothing to stop it, control it or purge these killers from their midst
                         and
The Muslims who rise up and whine about "backlash" from non-Muslims whenever Muslims do horrible acts of violence

What's the deal?? If Christians started to rise up and kill and bomb and terrorize the world we'd whup their butts!!!
Those cartoons - they were taken to the Muslim world by Dannish muslims specifically to start all of this anger and rioting. All of this was done ON PURPOSE by muslims who couldn’t let it stay in Denmark. They could have peacefully protested LOCALLY and demanded an apology from the Dannish newspaper that printed the rude and insulting cartoons. That would have been justified and fair and none of us would have faulted them.

But no, the followers of this Religion of Peace had to run around the Muslim world and spread the cartoons far and wide so they could get a nice big fat reaction from their fellow Muslims. I hope that they are happy - and that they have a good explanation to give to God when their own day of judgement arrives and He asks them what on EARTH they thought they were doing!!

Way to go, guys. What a nice mature way to react.

Forgive them as you wish to be forgiven.

Those words come to my mind when I reflect on Islam.

The recent peacefull demonstrations just prove what I knew about thier religion.

Forgive them and pray for them.

First, your emotions are running too high to have a clear discussion of things. You are simply venting your anger with this thread.

Second, do you have a link that verifies that Danish Muslims took these cartoons to the Muslim world to start this rioting? I would like to see it.

The reports I have read (through Yahoo news and major agencies) says that originally in September these cartoons appeared and then just recently Norwegian newspapers started re-printing these. This scenario doesn’t wash with the one you are proposing. I simply want to clarify what the facts are.

Peace…

A poster on another forum seemed to sum it up perfectly for me, when asked:

“Is there a difference between moslems and radical moslems?”

He answered:
Radical Muslims say “we’re going to kill you in the name of our faith.” Regular Muslims say “We really should be killing you in the name of our faith, but we’re too lazy.”
I think thats about the truth of it…

supreme leder of Iran
Concerning the recent blasphemy against the holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) by the Western press, the Supreme Leader said that it was a shameful measure by the Western liberal democrats in support of freedom of speech.

“This is while in accordance with this freedom of speech, denial of holocaust has been banned, but sacrilege against the sanctities of 1.5 billion Muslims has been allowed.”
The Supreme Leader referred to the move as a threat posed by the Zionists to pit Muslims and Christians against one another.

Turning to the US president’s remarks of several years ago about Crusade and the recent support of European leaders for the move on pretext of freedom of expression, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the reaction of Muslims was on time.

"It should be noted, however, that the sacred fury of Muslims was not directed towards Christians. It rather targeted the vicious plotters of the conspiracy to play a game on the politicians of the world hegemony.

“One of the reasons for the Zionists conspiracy is the hard and shocking blow dealt on them by the victory of the Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, in the recent parliamentary election,” he added.

The Supreme Leader noted that though during the election, the US officially financed Hamas rival groups, Hamas won the majority of the votes.

It’s starting to ring hollow with me too. They’ve got to do a lot more than keep repeating this line if anyone is going to believe it. What we do see is massive outpourings of violence, hate, and murderous threats —but no large (or even moderate) scale effort by "peaceful Moslems to "take back their religion. When (or if) I saw this, I could reconsider. Actions speak louder than words.

Let me put this as nicely as I can. It is a lie that the fury was not directed at Christians. They burned a Church in Lebanon. Just because a lie is repeated often and loudly it is still a lie.

When did peaceful Moslems ever control their religion? Islam has been a violent religion since it’s inception.

Don’t think much of’m. Remember reading one of gilliam’s posts… 60-70% of the ‘Moderate’ Muslims donate to the Radical Muslims. Some ‘Peaceful Religion’.

The cartoons were distasteful and disturbing.
The reaction was violent and alarming. 😦

👍 Brother, you hit the nail right on the head!

I always think of how many insulting cartoons have been drawn about the whole sexual abuse scandal with some priests, or the Pope “not doing anything” etc. How many Catholics went out and firebombed liberal newspapers or performed other acts of violence against our perceived “enemies”? Not a single one that I’ve ever heard of. I know I didn’t want the cartoonist’s blood-the thought never even crossed my mind to do something rash.

I’ve seen the cartoons in question portraying Mohammed, and quite frankly, they are not that offensive. A stable and rational person would not take such things personally.

Let me pose a real situation that happened:

Many years ago (when I was Christian), I worked at my company with a guy who was anti-Christian, former Mormon. We would discuss religious ideas and practices casually during lunchtimes and breaktimes. We were pretty nice to each other and it never got ugly.

One day he came over from his department and showed me a picture. It wasn’t just any picture. It was a picture of Christ on the cross and dressed up in some girly play outfit (as he was hanging on the cross) and was overall a pretty disgusting picture of my Lord and Saviour.

I was deeply offended that he brought it to me and showed it to me just to get a reaction out of me. I told him that I didn’t like it and thought it was horrible. I told him that was my God on that cross and I didn’t want to discuss anything anymore around religious issues. He got mad also (I was really hot) and stormed off.

I told my boss about our incident and told him what happened (before some other goofball did and got the facts wrong) and there was an inquiry of harassment, etc etc. It was a horrible experience and one I wouldn’t want to go through again.

To make a long story short - these kinds of freedoms of expression while they may seem harmless and inconsequential can have real repercussions. They hurt people, they hurt people’s jobs, their faith, their families.

The notion that this was a silly cartoon and shouldn’t be taken seriously is a cop-out. “oh, these Muslims are just too sensitive, blah, blah, blah” is what I have seen from many. No, they are zealous for their faith and were deeply offended (as I was back then). That doesn’t mean they have the right to become violent and hurt people.

But, in the end those cartoonists have to bear some of the responsibility for causing these series of events. They were the root cause of this fiasco. Causes have effects - whether I call it karma or you call it “reaping and sowing”, it is the same. The cartoonists callous and unthoughtful and irresponsible use of freedom of speech was the direct cause of hurt, anguish and further splitting of the divide between two major faiths.

They will reap what they sow as the Bible states an immutable truth.

Peace…

Has anyone been on a muslim website lately to see their reactions there? Just curious to know what they feel/think about the whole thing.

Here’s “a nasty cartoon of the Pope”:

From here: jcpa.org/phas/phas-21.htm

"On 28 December 1999 - well before the second Palestinian uprising - Al-Hayat al-Jadida, the official Palestinian Authority journal, published a cartoon expressing this core idea. It depicted an old man in a djellaba, symbolizing the twentieth century, taking leave of a young man wearing a tee-shirt symbolizing the twenty-first century. In between them stood a small Jew with a Star of David on his breast, above which an arrow pointed to him saying, 'the illness of the century.'2

“A few months later on 22 March 2000, the same journal ran another cartoon showing a large Pope talking to a small Jew with the skin, feet, and tail of an animal, and a big hooked nose, wearing a kippa. The Pope exclaimed ‘Peace on Earth’ while the Satanic-looking Jew calls out ‘Colonies on Earth.’” ##

Excellent points 👍

They want freedom to make cartoons of the Pope - they go mad if we make cartoons of you know who.

Not everyone agrees that all the world is rightfully Muslim - so, we don’t assume that only Muslim ways are to be followed. So, they can’t blame us for being un-Muslim. They are the ones who think all men are Muslim by nature - we don’t. That is what has not been understood. ##
