Call your nearest Girl Scout’s group. Here they collect gently used stuffed animals as well as new to give as prizes when they hold Special Olympics for handicapped.

I like the emergency services/firestation idea…

We were the recipient of a stuffed animal when we called 911 when my older son was having seizures… we’ve still got that stuffed dalmation!

If your in Ga the CCW would love to have them for their Have-a -Heart party. It benifits developmently challenged adults at the state hospital.

I live in GA, never heard of this. Could you share some more about this please? What is CCW?

There is an organization that collects gently used bears and embroiders a black scar on its chest and a red heart on the left side of the chest. These are donated to children and/or their families with heart defects. I forget what the name is, but maybe someone else has heard of them? I will try and find more info for you.

Yet another idea 🙂 I saw a flier at my church about “Soldier’s Connection” and ideas of things most requested by our soldiers in the field. Among those things were listed small little teddy bears for the soldiers to carry in their pockets and give to the little children in the war-torn areas.

Here’s an article on Bubba’s Bears (from the previous post): zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=16787997&BRD=1134&PAG=461&dept_id=150853&rfi=6

And the Bubba’s Bears website: www.bubbasbears4chd.com

Mailing address for donation of teddy bears:
Bubba’s Bears for CHD, 611 Tainter Street, Chetek, WI 54728.

CCW stands for Council of Catholic Women. There should be a chapter at each parish . The national convention was in Altanta last year or the year before. It;s good group you should join.

When I hit 21, many yrs ago!, I donated all my stuffed animals to a home for crippled children. I’m not sure they exist anymore.

Peace,
Linda

:yup:

As far as disinfecting them is concerned, my best friend, who is a nurse, picks up used toys at yard sales, for donation. She disnfects them, by putting them through the gentle cycle of the washing machine, with a cup or two of white vinegar added.
The vinegar kills the germs, & a generous amount of fabric softener makes them look good as new.

The police & the fire departments are always glad to get them, to give away…

Oh, and the Salvation Army sells secondhand toys.

HTH!!

I was thinking of you when the 'Save" magazine hit our mailbox yesterday. It is a free mag that is mostly coupons.

Here is a web site or two that buys beanies to this day:

http://www.beaniebestbuy.com/

http://www.buyingbeans.com/

You could always give the profit to the charity of your choice…🤷 I have no idea why these people want them after all these years.
