What, to you, is the most important part of being Catholic?

I’m just curious as to what each of you personally feel the most important aspects to your faith and of Catholicism are? Basically what, above all else, makes you religious. Feel free to relpy in a personal message if you’d rather because I know this can be a personal question.
 
Christ, I know that seems like some species of Tutoulogy but really it is.

Have you ever read “The Brothers Karamozov”?

Read the chapter “The Greand Inquisitor” it really shows some of the beauty of Christ
 
One of the main reasons why I am a Catholic is because of the real presence of Christ in the Holy Communion or what you might know as The Last Supper: where bread and wine become Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. As a Catholic we believe that we are receiving the actual Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, not just a symbol. Look up Transubstantiation! That will explain it better than I can.

Yes, I agree that the Eucharist, is the most important thing about my being a Catholic.

I started reading The Brothers Karamozov but I have yet to finish it. I’ll have to take a look at that chapter.

well I don’t rely on feelings since they are so unstable and unreliable, but the essence of my Catholic faith is the Eucharist.

Hi nichjake, I’m Belle 🙂

For me, the most important part of being Catholic is the personal relationship I have with Jesus through the Holy Eucharist. He is my King, my Savior, my best friend, my brother. Through Him I have nothing to fear and everything to be thankful for. He comforts me in sorrow, celebrates with me in joy, gives me His peace in thanksgiving. I know He loves me even though I don’t deserve it, and that He will always love me.

I think I know what the most important part of being Catholic is; however, I know that many times, I have made that most important part become less.😊 – I have opportunities to go to daily mass, but sometimes I skipped it because I was so worried doing something else.
 
The most important part of being a Christian is my relationship with Jesus Christ who died for me. The most improtant part of being a Catholic Christian is the Mass and the Eucharist. There is nothing else to compare to receiving the Body and Blood of Christ for those of us who love Him.
 
The most important part of being Catholic to me is being part of the body of Christ in all its meanings. Its guidance from the Holy Spirit, its renourishment in the Eucharist, it’s protection and mercy in the Sacred Heart, it’s help in the communion of Saints… Everything is a part of His body. I know if I stay in communion with His body, through Him ,l’ll reach heaven. But I find myself often still in the garden. Tim
 
The most important things to me–the ones that drew me into the Catholic Church–are the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and the fact that the Catholic Church is the Church that Christ founded and promised to protect through all time…👍
 
As others have attested, the most important part of being Catholic is receiving the true Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Holy Communion. To the words “The Body of Christ” I respond “Amen” with all my heart and soul.

Also, when I go to Confession, there is a joy the world cannot give in hearing words “I absolve you of your sins”.

I am a convert, and I have not found any joy in the world or other religions to compare with these two things.

I spent most of my life running from God, however, He perservered and caught me. Although, life will never run smoothly, I have found a home and happiness in the Catholic Church .
 
The reason I converted–The Truth. The Catholic Church has the only Truth. It has been handed down from Jesus Himself through apostolic succession. He promised that the gates of hell would never prevail against the One Church that He started. No other religion can offer that. I studied everything from Buddhism to Wicca to Judaism, and the Catholic Church is the only one that has the full and complete Truth, expressed most fully in the Eucharistic feast, the real Body and Blood of Christ.
 
I discovered that the Church believes Jesus meant it when he said, “For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him” (John 6:55-56). Within the Church Christ founded I can receive his Body and Blood, soul and divinity, in the consecrated host at every Mass in which I participate.

Della, well said in your writing.

There is nothing more precious than receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.
Holy Communion is the union of God and man.
Mass is truly Heaven on earth!
 
The real presence of Christ in the Eucharist is what brought me to the Catholic Faith. What protestant demonination can compete with that? Having Christ physically present is awesome to me. He truly is always with us not only spiritually but in person as well. 🙂
 
The Eucharist! On top of that, it just makes faithbased logical sense. No one, not even I, has/have been able to raise a unbias arguement that can prove the Catholic Faith to be false. Infact, whenever we try, we find ourselves agreeing more with it and getting closer to Christ at the same time!
