Tsk Tsk. Nobody has yet mentioned the greatest television series of all time, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
I’m not laughing. This thing is superb. Were you shocked at what happened with Kara Thrace last week? I was. I had no idea that was coming.OK - everyone is going to laugh at this list but here it is…
- Battelstar Galactica…
MYTHBUSTERS ROCKS!!! Love it, love it, love it …Actually, I forgot two of my favs, both on Discovery Channel: How Is It Made? from the CBC (thanx, Canadian taxpayers) and Mythbusters.
Even when TV is not used to promote reletivist or liberal ideas it is still bad. It destroys creativity and makes people stupid.TV is not evil…it can only be used for evil. TV is not the problem with today’s society. The real problem is moral relativism and liberalism, both of which should regulate what is displayed on the TV. I could say the same thing about books. They can promote evil ideas, sexual themes, sexual images, etc. That doesn’t make all books evil. Your theory doesn’t hold water.
Watching TV for only a few minutes can put one into theta sleep. It is best to avoid the boob tube entirely. The key phrase is: “in my humble opinion.” It’s not relaxing for you, but it is for some people. TV in moderation is not messing up one’s mind, any more than staring at your computer screen reading this message is.
I disagree. People need to be informed that they are wasting their time watching trash.I don’t pretend to think that TV is a the best thing in the world. In fact, I’ve written a report on how it can be harmful when used improperly. But telling people that it is evil and that they are foolish to watch it is irrational.
Says who? “Recreation” does not automatically equal “wasting time.” God gave us recreation as a gift when He created the sabbath. Who says every waking hour must be spent reading or exercising? What’s wrong with enjoying leisure? How can it be a “waste of time” to enjoy life?I disagree. People need to be informed that they are wasting their time watching trash.
just curious how do you get your severe weather warnings? and know where the severe weather is? me I get it thru tv and radar on tv. and yes I have had stuff of my own damaged by severe weather.Professional Sports = The Opiate of the Lumpen
American Idol = Utter Trash
I watch no television. Throw your TVs out. Break your TVs. Watching TV is a total waste of time. The world is enslaved by television.
Ah, but TV is not recreation. It’s an addiction. Many many people are addicted to TV. People may think they are having fun watching TV; but really they are not. TV is not lesiure; it’s an addiction.Says who? “Recreation” does not automatically equal “wasting time.” God gave us recreation as a gift when He created the sabbath. Had you said that an excess of lesiure is bad, I would have agreed. All things in moderation. “For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven,” Ecc. 3:1
Whenever there is really “severe weather” I just check the internet, or I just look outside, or I see what the weather page in the newspaper says. Also, for all of human history people haven’t had to use TVs to check for warnings about “severe weather”.just curious how do you get your severe weather warnings? and know where the severe weather is? me I get it thru tv and radar on tv. and yes I have had stuff of my own damaged by severe weather.
Many people are addicted to alcohol (a vastly more destructive addiction than television) but that doesn’t make alcohol inherently bad. It isn’t — only the abuse of alcohol is bad.Ah, but TV is not recreation. It’s an addiction. Many many people are addicted to TV. People may think they are having fun watching TV; but really they are not. TV is not lesiure; it’s an addiction.
anything can become an addiction. like internet for example!! and you still havent answered my question.Ah, but TV is not recreation. It’s an addiction. Many many people are addicted to TV. ok you have , your answer is you dont care. but for much of human history theres wasnt any way to take care of the kidneystone problem I on occasion have either , but I do take advantage of medical technology when I do get one. I suggest you dont get in a debbate with me on the severe weather, because Im a degree meteorologist and I know what it can do. and I say this if one is injured by severe weather or killed because they didnt use the modern way of warning themselves ie tv and radar on tv, it is their fault.anything can become an addiction. like internet for example!! and you still havent answered my question.![]()
If you want to waste your time watching garbage like 24 then that’s your problem. While you’re rotting your brain, “Anti-TV nutjobs” like me will spend our time reading or having enlightened conversation.I make no apologies for my love for television. The Anti-TV nutjobs out there don’t phase me in the least.
My favorite show is 24. I also enjoy sports, news, documentaries, and of course, EWTN.
Do “severe weather” warnings justify television? I think not.ok you have , your answer is you dont care. but for much of human history theres wasnt any way to take care of the kidneystone problem I on occasion have either , but I do take advantage of medical technology when I do get one. Yeah, I just sort of struggled my way through law school until I earned my doctorate in jurisprudence by sheer luck, and now I just coast along in my solo law practice without reading. TV really ruined my brain, all right. If only I would make something of myself. If you want to waste your time watching garbage like 24 then that’s your problem. Addionally, this thread demostrates the puerile mentality of many people on this message board. Sorry, but many of you guys don’t seem to be too smart.![]()
Evidently, you are able to deal with television and you do not let it overly affect you. However, society as a whole is not able to handle TV properly. Hundreds of millions of people are addicted to TV. Just because you can deal with television does not mean everyone else can. There are a lot of stupid people out there and TV is not helping.Yeah, I just sort of struggled my way through law school until I earned my doctorate in jurisprudence by sheer luck, and now I just coast along in my solo law practice without reading. Ever think that maybe some of us watch TV because we need the break?
