What values can be learned in Solomon's story?

I need to make a report on Solomon (in class, we’re discussing the era of the Judges and Kings).

For example, Gideon’s story teaches us that with trust in God, anything is possible.

As for Solomon, I know that his wisdom, wealth and faith are emphasized, but what are the highlighted values in his life?

Also, from which tribe is Solomon? (Dan?, Benjamin?, etc…)
And one last question, what is the significance of the Queen of Sheba’s visit?

Solomon was a Judahite (Matthew 1:3-6).

The Queen of Sheba paid a visit to Solomon in order to provide her people with an heir to her throne (this comes from legends among the Ethiopians).

Solomon built the Temple per the instructions of God. I think it was about 500 years that the Temple stood in Jerusalem, before an invader pillaged and destroyed it.

Solomon shows that it is not enough to be favored by God. He displays great wisdom, and gets blessed with even more.

Then he goes “and blows it”. With his 300 wives and 12 million concubines, Solomon will allow foreign gods to be worshiped in Israel. He will also exact harsh taxes on the Israelite tribes as well as the foreign countries that Israel conquered. This led to the cleaving of Israel shortly after Solomon’s death.

-Solomon in his days made Israel to be at its peak, politically and financially and probably spiritually when he finished the construction of the temple for worship. By his gift of wisdom he made the God of Israel well known throughout his Kingdom and the neighboring nations. Yes, gentiles especially kings and leader visited King Solomon to hear his wise counsel, though it is not clear whether the request is political, spiritual, etc counsel. But it is very strong indication that Solomon would impart the wisdom of God to his subjects and to neighboring nations who seek his help.

-At his last days, Solomon completely loose his Wisdom when he was blinded by his own lust and concupiscence, especially when he alllowed worship of idols.

-Well, the message is clear, don’t loose the wisdom of God (fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom) at any point in your life.

When I look at the spiritual lesson in Solomon’s story, one aspect stands out clearly. Letting earthly pleasures and values distract us from knowing God better, everything falls apart.

This lesson appears again and again not only in the Holy Bible, but also in our times, time after time.
