I’m very new to Christianity and I’m always impressed with folks whipping Scripture out

What do you have memorized and also what verses do you feel it’s good to have memorized?

Thanks!

As a child, I was encouraged through home, school and church to memorize scripture. It has been one of the biggest blessings in my life and YES, I remember the verses quite easily, I sometimes can’t remember where they are found in the Bible, but I know they are there, so I can refer to my concordance to find the passage. Once again, scripture memorization has been one of the BIGGEST blessings in my life. I would encourage you to think of the Great Commission (Matthew 28) and learn verses that will help you defend your faith to unbelievers. The verses will help keep you assured of your salvation through Christ’s work for you on the cross, as well. Also, think about how lost this world is. You can memorize verses of encouragement and God’s love. If you are a new Christian, I would also encourage daily Bible reading. When you come to a verse that you like OR have a question about, you can right the verse in a journal and memorize it or find the answer to your question and write it down under the verse. This has helped me learn more about God’s word and what it says. May God bless you with His grace to learn and memorize HIS word! 👍

My Favorites- I’m not too good at remembering where Scripture verses are located :o ]

‘‘Love one another as I have loved you’’

‘‘You are Peter and upon this Rock I will build my Church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against It.’’

Absolutely none!
because I personally don’t feel it not the right way forward. Your actions will speak louder than any words. Its how the Scripture gets misused and misunderstood.

I’m not a fan of sword drills. Rather, I have a larger portion of the bible commited via paraphrase in my head. We catholics know more scripture than we realize simply by virtue of attending the mass.

*****I would also encourage you to know memorize scripture b/c Christ our Saviour quoted Scripture all the time…to His closest friends, to the crowds that followed Him and to those who hated Him. There is a verse for everyone. Don’t be discouraged, His Word is so important. It gives you hope and it explains the whole reason why you and I are here! 🙂

“The grass withers and the flower falls, but the Word of the Lord remains forever.” -1Peter *****1:25
