If you take an extreme preterist view, almost all of them.

Some preterists (like Dr. Scott Hahn) concede that even though the events related in Revelation had their literal fulfilment in the first century, there is still a secondary fulfullment of all these things in the Church throughout history, in the individual lives of Christians, and at the end of time.

After studying it pretty extensively from an orthodox Catholic perspective, personally I’m of the camp that says pretty much everything in Revelation was fulfilled literally, in the first century, except the last three chapters, which describe in detail the ultimate defeat of Satan, the Last Judgment, and the new heavens and the new earth.

Here are some resources to help you develop a well-balanced Catholic understanding of the Book of Revelation, biblical prophecy, and eschatology. All of these are HIGHLY recommended:

The Navarre Bible Commentary on the Major Prophets

Hi Mannyfit,

Revelation is the story of the war between good and evil, God and the Devil, Life and Death.

Christ has already won all these struggles in his own person. We are now engaged in winning them in ourselves and a members of the Church… until He comes, when his Victory will be consummated and He will reign over all creatures.

No verse in the Bible is ever completely fulfilled. They just keep telling us new things with the old words!

Oh, Don’t get me started on this! I’m an apoc nut! 😃

From my personal study, I do NOT agree with Fidelis. I believe the primary sense of the text, while not denying preterism or other layers as secondary, is as spiritual historicism. But I also believe in multiple layers of fulfillment. But just for the record, I would say the meanings that are most intended and most useful to the Church are not the preterists and not the futurists, but, again, my favorite, spiritual historicism.

In that vein, in my personal belief, based on the likely scenario according to EWTN scholars, the Church is a little over half way through her “three-day journey”, not necessarily in the sense of literal time, but in the sense of spiritually successive ages, that is, in the sense that she passed through the darkness and light of the first day (pagan persecution, Catholic Christendom) and has gone through the sunset and most of the night of the second day (Protestantism to present). What remains is the light of the second day (the great reunion of Christendom and the fullness of Gentiles in age of peace) and the night of day three (the antichrist and great apostasy). (of course, the light of day three is the unending New Creation). But how long these time periods are that remain is unknown, even if the scenario is correct, for “It is not for you to know times or seasons.”

but, I’m sorry, it is true that your question can have multiple answers, depending on what layer of meaning one is dealing with. In that sense, the answers could be dozens. and I agree with Mintaka, they will continue to have fulfillments as long as there is history. for the Bible’s meanings never cease to apply again and again. 🙂

Well, I know of one that has NOT been fulfilled. Every time I look out my apartment window, I have yet to see those Giant Locusts Decked Out Like Horses For Battle, With Women’s Hair and Lions’ Teeth:crying:
