I think the OP is referring to those Anglicans who came over to the Catholic Church, married clergy and all, and were united to Rome. They also kept elements of their liturgy; hence, the name “Anglican use”. So, I don’t think the NIV, which doesn’t have the deuterocanonicals, would be appropriate. And if the RSV is REALLY being used, these Anglican-use Catholics get an “A”, not only for using the RSV, but for NOT using the New English Bible or the Revised English Bible.
I really do believe that they’re talking about the Anglicans who have been taking advantage of Pope John Paul II’s Pastoral Provision and have formed something known as the Anglican Use of the Catholic Church: From all I can tell, they’re using the Catholic Lectionary with the KJV and the Coverdale Psalter (the KJV originally had all of the books of the Bible and wasn’t truncated until later editions cut out the Deuterocanonicals). There is a chance that I might stand corrected, and that the Anglican Use Parishes may have opted for the RSV-CE which has now been modified to conform to the Liturgiam Authenticam.
They would not have used the NRSV since that version has been put under permanent anathema by the Orthodox Church of America and it definitely does not comform to the Liturgiam Authenticam of the Catholic Church.
I understand that the majority of congregations in the Anglican Communion use the NRSV with the exceptions being those who object to the NRSV’s wholehearted accommodation to feminist ideology at the expense of what many believe to be the Gospel of Christ and the Catholic Faith.
