What was celebrated at your parish today?

Did your parish celebrate the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time or did you celebrate the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul? Much to my pleasant surprise our parish celebrated the Feast of St. Paul. Our priest used the opportunity to talk about praying for our new President.

I’m curious to hear what when on in other parishes.
 
I think we pretty much celebrated the 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Times. But thanks for reminding us of this Feast Day. 🙂
 
The readings for both are on the USCCB website.

The readings for the Feast were not in our missals so we listened to them and then I looked them up when we got home. 🙂
 
We celebrated the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul. I am a lector, I did the first reading, it was Acts 22. The priest celebrating the Mass pointed out that there are 2 accounts of the conversion, the other one was I think in Acts 8 or 9.

I found it really interesting and informative to celebrate this today, and I found it inspirational as well. Our hymns were really nice and appropriate as well to the theme of conversion, especially “Here I Am Lord.”

That is my favorite link for daily readings. I have it bookmarked on home and work computer. Great way to start the day by going over the readings and Gospel…Thanks again for that…I am looking at this now…👍 👍
 
Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul. At the anticipated Mass I attended it really only affected the readings. Hymns are winged at that Mass so rarely relate to what we are celebrating.
 
They celebrated the 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time but we also celebrated a special mass to kick off Catholic School’s week.

I didn’t even think to mention that we celebrate the Conversion of St. Paul at the liturgy meeting however many months ago… 🤷
 
Aren’t there rules about which is supposed to take precedence? Can you really just pick and choose as it appears our priests have done? :confused:

In any case it was 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time for us.
 
In this exceptional case it appears it was left up to the priests. It certainly was in our diocese where the bishop sent a letter saying that the priests had his permission to celebrate the Conversion of St. Paul if they wished and indicating which readings to use in each case.

The implication in the letter is that this was permitted because of Pope Benedict’s proclamation of the Year of St. Paul.

We have been hearing that from our priest as well. I thought celebrating the Feast of St. Paul’s Conversion was very appropriate considering the week we just had here in the US.
 
Feast of St. Paul’s Conversion, the homily was very good as well (or should I say as usual), about the different ways and stages of actual conversion. Very easy to relate to personally and to whats happening in the world today.
 
Feast of the Conversion of Paul because the Archbishop declared so for the entire diocese. Father actually gave a homily that dealt with Church teaching on abortion (though not without mentioning unrelated matters to the Mass first) and fighting the Freedom of Choice Act and praying for the President. I just don’t expect these types of homilies to last though.
