What was the relationship between Jonathan and king David?

What kind of relationship did they have? They weren’t married I hope, though it seems they were extremely close, and I think there was a verse where they kissed . I hope I’m wrong

We in the US are very conscious of our personal space. Other cultures allow closer contact that we simply aren’t comfortable with.

This is an egregious offense against history, and it’s extremely offensive to see someone suggest that because they shared the common Eastern custom of kissing on the cheek, that they were somehow homosexual. Considering that both David and Jonathan are venerated as Saints, this is a highly inappropriate subject to bring up.

My apologies Spyridon I was only asked this question because I was in a debate regarding homosexuality and the Bible, and one of the topics that came up was the relationship with Jonathan and David. I asked this question because I wanted a way to prove this person wrong about Jonathan and David. If I’m not allowed to create a thread regarding an issue that has been asked on CAF before, that can be easily refuted, and is something that may tarnish the legacy of two saints unless these accusations are put to bed, then what is the point in getting angry? I was only asking a question about a matter I was confused about. If I’m not allowed to do so then why is CAF here?

You are by far the only one who I met that decided to act rude about an innocent mistake and question which most of my generation would have made due to how society portrays love. My mistake and I’m truly sorry.

I didn’t think about doing that. I also wanted to cover other topics than that. I guess I could have done a Google search on those as well. But why did you have to be so rude about this? Am I not allowed to ask questions on CAF about misinterpreted points from someone who I was debating with?

In my lifetime we have gone from seeing men in film, music, books as close intimate friends, to whee every time we see two men together we assume it is homosexual. Sad.
