What was the religion of Noah?

Before anyone makes haste to answer,consider the question carefully…if the Church has a name specifically for this era,what is it called?

Most probably “pre-abrahamic religion”, or “pre-abrahamic Judaism”, well “Judaism”, since “judaism” per se wasn’t “Judaism” until Ezra…
 
Well, Noah lived long before Moses received the laws of Judaism from God.

But he did worship the one true God (YHWH), and was faithful to him.

So I guess he’d be a “YHWHist”, even if we couldn’t call him a Jew or a Christian.
 
God and Noah spoke with eachother, and had a very special relationship. God spoke with Noah directly and Noah followed His instructions. God saw Noah was a just man, and decided to save him and his family from the flood. I guess the best way to say it is “Noah was a worshipper of God.”

Yes, that! Noah didn’t need a “religion”, per se, because he had a direct relationship with God and lived a life pleasing to God. Unfortunately, that lifestyle didn’t last long, people began to displease God, and God found it necessary to lay down some rules/laws and appoint people in charge of speaking on His behalf.

This is what I would say as well. He was a faithful follower of God.

If you asked him what religion he belonged to, he’d probably ask you what religion is.

That by definition is religion.

Noah’s religion could be called a form of primitive Yahwism.
 
According to “The Pastor” by Hermas (one of the books considered for inclusion into the new testament) old testament saints (like Adam and Eve, David and Abraham) were considered part of the Church.

According to the teaching of today’s Church, anyone who is in heaven is incorporated into the Body of Christ = the Church.

So… Catholic.
 
I like all the answers and not to mention the ingenuity and way of thinking.My answer would be Man has always had a religion taught by God. But this religion falls into four great divisions:— 1.—The religion of Adam, who was instructed immediately by God. This was the first stage, and is known as the religion of innocent man. 2.—After Adam’s fall, Adam handed on to his children the truth about God, and the duty of worshipping Him. Thus Abel offered sacrifice. The traditions were transmitted by Adam’s posterity, but memories faded. Still, conscience always dictated what was naturally right, and this period could be called the period of natural law. However, God gave occasional revelations to various individuals, such as the Patriarchs, over and above the natural law, and this stage is often called the period of the Patriarchal religion, or the period of pre-Mosaic unwritten law. 3.—The third stage came with Moses. After the re-multiplication of the human race from Noah, men again began to forget God, and God gave to Moses a clearer exposition of religious duties to be put into writing. This is known as the stage of the written law, or that of the Mosaic religion. 4.—Finally God sent His own Son to give the more perfect law—the Christian law—which the Catholic Church teaches today in its fullness, and will teach till the end of time. Noah belonged to the second of these four stages, that of the Patriarchal unwritten law.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church mentions God’s covenants with Noah, Abraham, and Moses (or the Old Covenant) and the New Covenant in Christ. If the religion based on God’s covenant with Moses is called the Mosaic religion, then the religion based on God’s covenant with Noah could be called the Noachian religion or the Noachic, Noachical, or Noahic religion. (Similarly, the religion based on God’s covenant with Abraham could be called the Abrahamic religion.)
 
Noah and the patriarchs practiced ‘natural religion.’ There was no instituted religious system at that time. They offered sacrifices for sins and called upon the name of the lord etc because God created man with the natural instincts to worship, he wrote it on Man’s heart. However, Man’s heart gradually became hardened because of sin and his idea of worship became distorted,so God had to bring about a new covenant. Jesus instituted the Catholic Church so that we could once again recieve grace through the Holy spirit and be brought back into the family of God as adopted sons and daughters (Gal 3:26-27). We enter the new covenant through baptism (1 Cor 12:12-13) through which our sin is forgiven (Acts 2:38) and through which our heart is circumcised (Col 2:12-13) in fulfillment of Deut 30:6

6*Moreover, the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, so that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, in order that you may live.
