Our pastor talked about how our world is oppressed today, especially by fear. The antidote is of a spiritual nature: we need to spend time with God daily (in prayer, Scripture reading, before the Blessed Sacrament, etc.) By doing so, we can learn to hear His voice and find peace in our lives.

we read from the Gospel today about Jesus calling the fishermen to his ministry. He said some stuff about being invited and some other stuff about being married and putting God first, or being single and putting God first. I forgot the rest sadly 😶

I’m at a mostly College Age pariash. Father spoke to us about how us singles don’t need to be anxious and concerned about so many things in the world which distract us from living a spiritual life. This is a good thing about being a college student. Maybe some of you married folks remember what it was like to be a single. 🙂

I’m a much older single than these college students but we both have a more expansive opportunity to be anxious or solicitous about the things of the Lord.

I went to the Saturday evening Mass which this week was specially geared towards one grade of the local Catholic schoolchildren. Father talked about the anxieties we all face in today’'s society, including schoolchildren and teens. We’ve had a rash of teen suicides in the nearby county and Father spoke about the need to center our life around God as the only solution to anxiety.
