What Was Your First Album?

My first album was “The Archies”, it was from a cartoon about
a pop group, I was about 10.
 
Sandy Nelson (a drummer) Let There Be Drums. I’d be surprised if anyone can remember this.
 
Mine was a Prince album or shall I say the artist formally known as Prince lol. It was a purple one and had the song “seven” on it speaking of Revelations. Back in the day I thought it was the AWESOMEST song lol

I had a lot of 45’s including Touche Turtle and Dum Dum and Spoonful of Sugar and Red Red Robin and I’m a Little Teapot and Puff the Magic Dragon, but my first album was More of the Monkees in 1st grade–I had a crush on Mickey Dolenz and saved my allowance for weeks to buy it. Had a lot of my mom’s 45’s from the 1950’s. I did not get another album for 6 years and it was Beach Boys Endless Summer. But now the 80’s were my time to shine and I still have every one of them! (Including my original Monkees…)

anyone have a red plastic close-n-play record player?
 
Does anyone remember picture disks? They had the album art on the vinyl and where in a clear sleeve with border. I had The Wall on 8 track, but I can’t remember my first album. Tim

Like I said above, my copy of “Thriller” was a picture disc. 👍

I think I tried to put a cassette in my parents’ 8-track player. I remember being confused when it didn’t work.

I may have to find a copy of that old album!

My first album didn’t come along till I was about 15, Willy and the Poorboys (CCR)

The first record I bought was Red Rubber Ball by Cyrcle!
(I hadn’t thought of that 45 in years!)
 
My parents really weren’t huge music fans, especially since my mother suffered from chronic migraines, so when I was little (about three years old) they gave me all their Beatles, Stones and Doors albums, and The Velvet Underground and Nico. I loved the Stones and the Velvets right away! I also listened avidly to all the blues, soul, funk and early rock I could tune in on the radio. 🙂

But the first album I ever bought with my own money…when I was about 9 or 10, I first heard the Ramones, and wow! I saved my nickels and dimes and bought Rocket to Russia when I was eleven. I still think that may be the best investment I ever made! 😃
 
My mom bought me “Oliver”. It had the song “good morning starshine” which Bob and the muppets did on Sesame Street. I guess I bugged her about it and she got it. I was disappointed though because it wasn’t “Bob and the muppets” - just some guy named Oliver? I still don’t know who he is :o .

My husband’s was The Partridge Family (which I had as well).
 
My first single was “She Loves You.” First album was Beatles '65.

Of course I added to that over the years. Just before I got married, I had about 50 albums.

Then I married a guy with over 10,000 albums (*not *an exaggeration!) My little collection is all mixed up in his.

On top of that, he’s got thousands of CD’s and 45’s. He even has 8-track and the occasional 4-track, plus thousands of cassettes. We’ve got 78’s. We’ve got recorded sound in just about every manner in which it has been released, except Thomas Edison cylinders.

So what do I listen to? Catholic Answers Live.
 
I’ve heard “Let There Be Drums”, too, and liked it - as a (presently) 19-year-old. Ah, the wonders of the accessible digital age. 😃

Can’t remember my “very” first album, but I got a couple of records at book sales a few years ago - John Denver’s Back Home Again and Greatest Hits among them. I also got a couple of CDs for Christmases, including the greatest hits collections of Chet Atkins and Jim Croce.

Why yes, I’m an “oldies” fan. How’d you guess? :o

Oh, and the Moody Blues rock! Gotta get ALL their albums! :eek:👍
 
First album…well, as a 21 year old I mostly have CDs but can’t remember what my first one was. But I do remember my first vinyl album: Synchronicity by the Police that I got from a consignment shop when I was about 13.
