I can think of a few (1) I think don’t wear a rosary around one’s neck, (2) don’t use it for magical purposes. Those are the most obvious of which I can think. But if (1) is true, then why, and two, is there any other bad way to use a rosary? Are other parts of the body restricted too? Can one use a rosary like one uses one’s keys? What should one’s inner disposition be when one uses it?

Thanks

I use my rosary to pray the Rosary every day. I don’t think a blessed rosary should be used for anything else. I wear a crucifix around my neck and I have one hanging on my car mirror to show that I am proud to be a Catholic and Christian. Use your rosary to pray the Rosary every day and don’t worry about what it shouldn’t be used for. :signofcross:

A blessed rosary should be treated with reverence. Wearing it around your neck isn’t necessarily bad, as long as it’s to keep it close to you, remind you to pray, proclaim your faith, etc. It should never be worn as “just jewelry”, though. Don’t treat it carelessly, don’t throw it around, have a special place for it or keep it some where safe. You can wear it on your hands or in your pocket or in your purse (as long as it won’t get bumped around or damaged). Just always remember that it’s a blessed item and should be treated as such.

If your rosary is not blessed, I would still treat it with respect.

As far as inner disposition, I would say openness to God’s will and Mary’s gentle guidance.

Pls i dnt really agree with your rule no 1, sometimes i wear my rosary under my clothes other times outside my clothes as a reminder for me (it reminds me of God promise to me as child and heir and i will certainly avoid mischeif with that though on my mind) other time i put it in my pocket for simplicity sake. I dont see anything wrong with that.

I wear my rosary around my neck. They kept getting messed up in my purse. It is a good way to connect with others regarding our love of prayer.

I assume that whatever internal dispositions are needed are habitual and not actual (I don’t need to actually have say, Mary on my mind at all times)?

The Rosary is so powerful and certainly we do need the beads in order to say the prayer. You only need the knowledge of knowing the format and understanding that meditating on the mysteries while reciting the prayers is the key to altering nature through the intercession of Our Lady and the Power of her Son.

However, in reference to your question, “What ways are improper in reference to the wearing or employing of the Rosary” the answer is simple.

All presentations or actions with the Rosary that are not directly intended to reflect the Beauty, Love and Mercy of Our Lady and Her Son would be incorrect.

The Rosary is not a fashionable form of jewelery.

The Rosary is not a “Good Luck Charm”

The Rosary is not something that we hang from our rear view mirror because we think it looks cool!!! Or is in itself going to bring protection to the driver and passengers… This is a very common misconception.

However, all of the above become acceptable if the devout practice of reciting the Rosary with a contrite heart and sincere love for Our Lady and Her Son is performed daily…

And… It is my recommendation to all those I love the most to take the time “Daily” and recite at least five decades of The Most Blessed Rosary.

I am only emphasizing the NOT because of the typo in my initial post. I in no way do not love the design of the Rosary… I carry two (One in each of my front pockets each day) They are from Medjugorje.

O Divine Master
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love
For it is in giving that we receive
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life…

Where you got your Rosaries is not relevant. No Rosary is better than another Rosary.
