Here’s a trick. When in Ordinary Time, take the week – in this case, week 25, and divide by 4. The remainder is the week of the Psalter. Fourth week, of course, is 0 – but that means 4th week. (Thanks to *The Divine Office for Dodos *by Madeline Pecora Nugent, available from the gift shop at www.penitents.org.)

Here is a little trick for Ordinary Time

Take the week we are in for Ordinary Time and divide by 4. The remainder is the Week of the Psalter

example (25 / 4) = 6 remainder 1. We are in the first week of the Psalter

if the remainder is zero, that’s week 4

Piggybacking on this thread here, is there an actual class we can go and take to learn how to pray the Liturgy of the Hours? I am at a total loss as to how to start.

Shameless self promotion I know but:

If you don’t know how to pray the LotH yet, you can click on the link in my signature…you only need to switch between the Ordinary (post 5, assuming you don’t know it by heart) and the appropriate document It’s arranged so no flipping. It’s customary to start with Morning and Evening Prayer but you can do any ‘hour’ you want. Night Prayer is good.

I’ll try and post a guide sometime in the week. But you can just read the Chapter IV: of the General Instruction, especially nn. 225-240.

Someone had earlier posted this link (apologies I don’t remember who) on how to pray the LotH. There is an online tutorial also.

Ask any priest or deacon. They are required to recite the Liturgy daily.
