I forget exactly what my dad said–he was really concerned that young people would hear that and not see the point of doing anything about their futures while they waited for Jesus to come back.And my Grandmother is Pentecostal. I am sure you are not surprised to here that. I grew up with Pentecostal leanings because of it although I was non-denominational for the longest time as a protestant.
My poor Grandma was told by her mother (also Pentecostal) as a little girl that if Jesus came back and caught her in a movie theater he would leave her behind. Poor Grandma
Just “irresponsible”? He gave the pastor a lot of slack then.
The movie theater story is funny! And sad!
Speaking of “worldly things,” my mom and my sister and I all got pierced ears when I was in my teens. We were SO worried what grandma would think about it, because pierced ears were “fast.”
