They both hate the Catholic Church.
One could add Jack Chick and James White to that list, too; that would be quite the unholy cocktail. They both hate the Catholic Church.
Likewise myself.I have recently been accused of being a gay activist. Rest assured that I do not hate the Church.
Another thing that Westboro Baptists “gay” activists have in common is they are both extremists. They don’t understand the balanced and reasonable concept of “love the sinner but hate the sin”. In their inability to understand this concept, one goes to the extreme of hating the sinner as well as the sin, and the other to the extreme of loving the sinner and loving the sin. So one is the inverse equivalent of the other. Another thing is both seem to be emotionally driven. One could add Jack Chick and James White to that list, too; that would be quite the unholy cocktail.
But seriously, both those “organizations” are distinguished by a regrettable intolerance of, and willingness to spread calumny about, the Church. Good observation.![]()

I have observed that many Catholics don’t understand this either. They don’t understand the balanced and reasonable concept of “love the sinner but hate the sin”.
Who do you believe it is “uncharitable” to? Do you believe that I’m being uncharitable to the Westboro Baptists?I have observed that many Catholics don’t understand this either.
I think it serves no purpose to try and create ‘them and us’ situations. People, not even the WBC, can’t be neatly boxed up this way.
This thread seems rather uncharitable to me.
Because the effect of this thread appears to be to encourage readers to “hate the haters”.Who do you believe it is “uncharitable” to? Do you believe that I’m being uncharitable to the Westboro Baptists?
You are reading into it what I never said. What did I actually say that is not the truth or that you think is uncharitable?Because the effect of this thread appears to be to encourage readers to “hate the haters”.
That is uncharitable.
Good point. They both hate the Catholic Church.
This is a very good observation. Both groups indeed take extreme positions. In my opinion, extremes are usually bad. There are exceptions of course but in general I think the middle road will generally yield the best results.Another thing that Westboro Baptists “gay” activists have in common is they are both extremists. P.S.
By “gay activists”, I don’t mean every homosexual, but I include heterosexuals who encourage the behavior. I also believe that the one who encourages others in the sinful behavior commits a greater sin than the homosexual who sins in private since the one who encourages the behavior whether they be “gay” or “straight” is guilty of scandal which is the worst sin of all.![]()
Well, for a start, you have no evidence that ‘gay activists’ specifically ‘hate the church’.You are reading into it what I never said. What did I actually say that is not the truth or that you think is uncharitable?![]()
I wish I had a five dollar bill every time someone on here because it’s the most overused word on this site.I have observed that many Catholics don’t understand this either.

I don’t know where you got the idea that I consider myself a victim in this.I wish I had a five dollar bill every time someone on here because it’s the most overused word on this site.
And would you please drop the “I’m a victim” nonsense?
I doubt anyone on here had malice towards you and it seems like you are upset because, goodness, there’s actually opposition to so-called “gay marriage” on a Catholic forum!![]()

A lot of them do and I don’t think you need quotes around gay activists; it would be more accurate to put quotes around gay because a lot of these activists are just straights who are trying to show off how tolerant they are thinking they’ll get some kind of ovation from GLBTQ folks.=DexUK;10686423]Well, for a start, you have no evidence that ‘gay activists’ specifically ‘hate the church’.
So did you when you said this thread was *(drumroll…) *uncharitable.Secondly, you made a sweeping generalisation.
No it’s not, so dump the Western PC nonsense. That is usually an indication of a level of prejudice and stereotyping.
Uncharitable this, uncharitable that…the calling card of CAF progressives and posters who don’t have a valid counterargument. All of that is uncharitable.
In addition, there are widely varying definitions of “gay activist.” Some would include those who just believe that a person shouldn’t be denied employment due to their sexual orientation – whether they act on it or not – while others use it to mean the disrupting-church-services, attacking-bishops-during-speeches, holding-parades-you-couldn’t-let-your-children-watch extremists.Thirdly, you equate the ‘gay activists’ with the WBC, which is well known and universally reviled.
I would post a picture of the “gay” activists who protested at the Vatican, but since the words are written on their naked bodies I can’t.Well, for a start, you have no evidence that ‘gay activists’ specifically ‘hate the church’.
By sounding whiny. Sorry if that was inaccurate, but a “straw man”…I think not.=DexUK;10686437]I don’t know where you got the idea that I consider myself a victim in this.
DexUK;10686437:
Dex’s post wasn’t “whiny” at all.I don’t know where you got the idea that I consider myself a victim in this.
