What will happen if abortion is made illegal?

In the pro-life movement, which I would consider myself part of, I’ve noticed that there has always been a strong movement towards helping women post-abortion and different ways of helping women steer away from having abortions like clinics, etc.

If abortion was made illegal, would it mean that a women and the doctor who procured the abortion would be convicted of murder? Would they be convicted in the same way as someone who committed a first degree murder? Would people still be trying to help the women who are going through post-abortion trauma?

Also, it your opinion, do you think that if abortion was made illegal, all women who have had an abortion before the laws were changed should be made criminals? The reason I seperate this question is it would actually be unconstitutional to do this and I just want to know your views.

More or less, I wondering how to respond if I am in a discussion with a Pro-Choice person who uses this as an argument.

I don’t know if I would charge them with anything - not something like murder at lease. Look, even if the bible it says if a man strikes a woman and she miscaries (causes an abortion), it’s not life for life (or a murder charge).

But, I do think they should be charged with breaking the law and there should be some punishment such as a year in jail and community service for the woman - and/or a huge fine, and for the dr, full removal of his/her liscence forever.

Now, but making abortion illegal is tough for many reasons. First of all, are there exceptions? Tubal pregnancies or something else that gravely endangers the health of the mother. If the mother is gravely ill and they take the baby trying to save both, but they know the baby is very early and doesn’t survive, does that = abortion or murder? I don’t think so. Not everything is black and white.

If the mother has cancer and needs treatment but it will hurt the baby (and she can’t abort - I am not agreeing with abortion here), and she is forced to take the treatment while pregnant, would there be a charge on her for that when the baby dies or is born with horrible defects?

As for women who do not wish to raise a child with a mental illness or medical condition that they normally would have aborted, she wouldn’t face charges for giving the child away in one of those drop off programs hospitals often have?

What if a woman miscarried but someone accused her of abortion and there was no way to tell, what would happen then?

I mean, there are so many rules and regulations that would have to go into it.

“The reason I seperate this question is it would actually be unconstitutional to do this and I just want to know your views.”

I also agree with this and would not accept those before the law to be charged with anything.
