What will happen to the sign of peace once Public Mass resumes?

Thank you for your kind words. I wish I could be clearer, but I am often grasping to express somethings. I often seem more progressive than I really am because I am trying to explain one side of an issue. But my hope is always to make our faith stronger, certainly mine and those who read my mumblings.

I do not understand those who resist the gesture. Perhaps they do not see the need to teach compassion? Idk

It isn’t that I don’t like the sign of peace but the lack of understanding of why we have the sign of peace. When the sign of peace is exchanged, it is more of hi there. In my parish, they hold hands at the Our Father. It seems strange to than offer peace. According to the rubrics, it is only to be offered to those near you in a somber way. The congregation waves clear across the Church at those they know or can’t reach.
Why some others do not like it maybe a leftover from not liking the whole change in Mass. I know my parents pointed to the SOP as the failure of the new mass. Look they would say at how the kids would act. When it was first introduced in our area, the children would try to break each others hands. A failure not of the Mass but whoever was teaching them. It is not the sign of peace that I don’t like but how it is done.

This current COVID-19 crisis which happened to start around the season of Lent is a different story.

I assume holy water fonts will be left dry to prevent spread of germs.

Churches are leaving Holy water fonts dry this year because of the covid 19 pandemic.

Another poster said this was not allowed, which clearly, it is, as bishop’s have the authority to allow the practice, and have even mandated it. Of course we are referring to the COVID situation.

My church has a small container of holy water that’s changed daily, and they did recommend that we bring our own instead, but they cannot simply remove holy water.

You are correct that on their on initiative, they are not to remove holy water from the fonts; but the bishop has the authority to either request it or direct it.
