Babs, a staunch Republican in her politics, was a woman of great wealth and taste, and was famous for her Junior League charity balls that she hosted at the most exclusive resorts and country clubs in the nation. She attended the weekly services at the Cathedral when she was living in her city house, and she always made sure that the bishop was given a gilt invitation to her Christmas festivities at the Ritz Carlton. After a long and luxurious life, she died a peaceful death, and went to meet St. Peter at the Gates of Heaven.

St. Peter greeted Babs warmly and took her by the hand for a stroll down a wide boulevard paved with bricks of solid gold. On each side of the boulevard, interspersed between the immaculate gardens and parks, were enormous mansions that startled Babs with the magnificence of their splendor. St. Peter paused in front a mansion that glittered like a jewel on a hill, and asked Babs what she thought. Excited, Babs admitted that she had never seen any mansion in her life on earth that was as exquisite as this one. Peter exclaimed with joy that there were many mansions in heaven that were as fine as this, and that saint that lived here was Maria, the maid that had faithfully served Babs for over thirty years. Babs gasped and declared that this was far too great a mansion for Maria, and that the little cottage that was behind the mansion would be more appropriate for her maid. Peter softly squeezed Babs’ hand and gently told her that the cottage was to be her dwelling place. Stunned, Babs cried out, “But the cottage is so small!”. To which Peter replied, “My dear, dear lady, the carpenter can only build with the materials that you send up.”

I, too, want to meet my two children who died before they were born and I have always wanted to be able to sing in the heavenly choirs.

I just want to see my mother and grandparents and of course, Jesus and Mary. I have always imagined heaven as a place where we praise God 24/7.

Im just hoping for an 18,000,000,000,000,000,000,…nth hole golf course with an easy slope rating.

What bible verse is this?

1 Cor 2, 9: Eye has not seen or ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man, what things God has prepared for those who love him.

i,m going to hang out with all my catholic christian brothers and sisters and rejoice that all baptized believers made it there, and reminisce about how silly we all were and all the time we wasted infighting amongst ourselves instead of banding together against all the worlds evils! in christian unity with all baptized believers, celt

:rotfl: HA-HA-HA! That was funny. When I go to heaven, I will organize heavenly parties !!!

Junior League charity balls that she hosted ”
Hey, no knocking the JL. 😃 They do alot of good for the poor and homeless (at least here in Houston.) 🙂

Anyway, I’m hoping my singing will be better so I can join in the heavenly singing. And looking forward to meeting family ancestors and my maternal grandparents who were killed a month before I was born (and my paternal gp’s), not to mention some favorite historical characters and of course all the saints. And I’m sure a dear friend of mine who passed away a few years ago will be able to join in walking the hills (which I imagine look like the Scottish Highlands 😃 )

I was talking to a nonCatholic last weekend and he brought up the question ," What are you going to do in Heaven". He said he was going to have a black and white Harley Davidson motorcycle and a bag full of money. He told me I could have the best airplane Cessna makes and unlimited gasoline.

The question is do people want to go to heaven to do things (nonCatholics) or do the only want to avoid the pains of hell? (Catholics) What will they do there in heaven when they get there.

{I am Roman Catholic and am traditional}
I don’t know. I’ve never been there before, I don’t know what lies ahead. I have never thought of it as a place where I would accumulate earthly ‘stuff’. I always thought of it more as a place we would experience, truly the fullness of God’s Love and Grace.

Dunno if I’ll make it, but if I do, I am hoping for fountains of fresh Guinness and more beautiful girls than one can shake a stick at (after all, we’re talking eternity here…)😃

Peace.

I am going to have the biggest reunion possible for family friends and loved ones. Then I am going to get a new voice and learn to sing and play several musical instruments. Maybe learn to play from the greatest muscians and music teachers of all time. Have Einstein and a few others explain what in the heck he/they were talking about. Sign up for classes from the greatest teachers of all time.

Sit in on great philosophical discusions with Jesus, Plato, and Socrates etc. See some new movies from Cecil B de Mille and Walt Disney, John Wayne, Fred Astaire, Jimmy Stewart, and Bing Crosby. Listen to music concerts from the angelic choir, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, and Dean martin. Go watch a baseball game with Babe Ruth, Dimaggio, Ted Williams, Sandy Kofax, Walter Johnson, Cy Young playing. See a football game with John Unitas, Gale Sayers and other greats playing.

Have a hot fudge ice cream cake or ice cream soda without it upsetting my stomach or worrying about it ruining my health. Get golf lessons, bowling tips etc…

BUT first off, I will thank God for giving me life and coming down to earth to make getting to Heaven even possible, and pray that He helps my friends and family to make it to Heaven as well.

I agree that the material things we think about will really have no meaning when we see the greatness and love and peace of our Lord, face to face.
Celia, this reminds me of something I recently read:

“No one of the blessed can express to another what he most intimately experiences, for there [heaven] what is most profound in our beatitude will take place between God and each of us, between the human person and the divine Persons. That is the supreme grandeur of the human person: to be called to live eternally in intimate companionship with his God; alone with God alone, in an inexpressible contact with Him. Thus one understands that the society of the blessed in heaven, however pleasant, constitutes only an accidental happiness, added to that essential one which we will experience by being with God and in enjoying Him,” Fr. Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, O.C.D., Union With God According to St. John of the Cross.

I will praise God forever with the angels and saints, and pray for everyone on earth and in purgatory. I won’t feel any more pain.

my Mother my Confidence,
Corinne

This is going to sound silly but…so what, it’s my Heaven.

I plan to ask our Lord to take me by the hand and show me all of His Creation. I want to see every star, every nebula and every planet.

Sort of like you see in the Hubble telescope photos but in person.

Then, when we are done, I want to prepare Him a great meal!

Silly, I know.

When I was a small child we lived in Wyoming. The cold wind blew through the house. During one really bad blizzard I asked my father where does the snow come from? He said “the clouds” Well we had little prayer books showing pictures of angels sitting in the clouds. This was supposed to be heaven ! On the other hand there were these pictures of devils in hell with a nice roaring fire. With it thirty degrees below zero and all those heavenly clouds piling up around the house, hell looked pretty good. I have since moved the Tucson Arizona today it was 102. That is close to what I imagine heaven to be. Warm warm with love warm with peace.

My Daddy died saving my life when I was 3 years old. The first thing I want to do is hug him & thank him…Then, I figure he will give me the :yup: grand tour…

I’ve always told people that when I get to heaven I want to dance with Gene Kelly. 😃

Scout :tiphat:

Well, I know I will worship and adore the Father, Son and Holy Spirit forever, and give Mother Mary a hug every time I see her. That’s a lot of hugs, forever.

When I get to heaven, I want the Starbuck’s concession!
