What witness do you or I give to the world?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The word “witness” in the title of this thread is a corollary to the thread I posted this morning on this Feast of St. Stephen, who gave witness to Christ with his life, In that thread I pondered Mary our Mother as a “witness” not in the sense in which St. Stephen was martyred, but as one who gave witness by everything she said and did, and everything she suffered in giving her life completely to the service of God

Mary is both Mother and Model for the Church and so I ask, "What witness am I giving to the world in which I live? Am I giving my all to Christ? Am I allowing Him to shine through me as He shone through Mary? "

May all of us ask these questions, not to confess our faults on the internet, but in order to confess to the Holy Spirit our deep need for Truth in our lives. Let us continually ask through Mary, that like her, we may hear His Truth and do the Truth we hear.

The priest who offered our Christmas Mass yesterday, spoke of the culture we live in and how many are celebrating themselves rather than Christ in Christmas. He said many in the world have “no room” for Christ, but how empty any celebration is without Christ! He concluded his homily with: “The world needs witnesses”. I continue to ponder this.

Yes, I think the world could benefit from many more vocal witnesses to the glory of God and the blessedness that He offers us through the Catholic Church! 🙂

May God bless you always! 🙂

Dear Richard,

May the Lord – to whom nothing is impossible – make you and I and many, many more persons true Witnesses for Christ, through Mary, in the world today!
