What would a catholic world look like?

The Church of Canterbury is not Catholic and it has more in common with the way than the Catholic Church. Many English came to America to flee the persecution of the protestant church of Canterbury.

America was not founded by Jesus Christ, the Constitution was not written by Jesus Christ, democracy was not founded by Jesus Christ.
I do not think I called the Anglicans Catholic. The only thing Henry #8 protested was not getting his divorce sanctioned by the pope. Henry snubbed the pope’s authority, got excommunicated and started his own–Church of England. His archbishop was headquartered at Canterbury. With minor exceptions, the dogma did not change. Priests may have a wife and children.

The gentlemen who drafted and signed the D of I and Constitution were a mixed bag religiously speaking. Some were deists, others were protestants. Some were Baptistic in their faith and practice(champions of religious liberty). When the State Religion subject got to the Congress, there was a heated debate. Are we saying that the fact that there was no State religion allowed abortion and pornography? Some would say the teaching of evolution would get much of the blame.

Jesus never forced Himself on anyone.

Peace,

James Least

=Guyonthestreet;6228121]Imagine there was no other denomination apart from catholicism in the world.
And every living person was a catholic - at least in name.
What would the world look like?
There would still be natural disasters etc obviously … but would there be poverty?
Would there be war?
Would there hunger?
Would there be injustice?
Would be world be a poorer place without the Mormons, Lutherans, Methodists, Jews, Hindus, Orthodox…?
I wonder …
***f, real world, and today; there SADLY  would be little diference.

I suspect fallen-away-catholics PLUS catholics in name only, PLUS, catholics who only beleive what THEY CHOOSE, might well out number by a HUGE NUMBER, informed and practicing Catholics as well as any other group. VERY SAD indeed. All of the worlds problems would still exist.:o

? Know and live the Faith! Be a lamp on the hillside.;)***

All these things would still exist to an extint if these self proclaimed beliefs nolonger existed. We are humans who sin Catholic or not. There would be less of some of these problems however they will be around until Christ comes again. However there would be less lies and confusion! There is 1.2 Billion of us catholics and if you do the math it is only a matter of time before most of the world is catholic.

What is your point of this thread though?

there is no need for speculation. Spain under the Spanish Inquisition, Iran under Islamic rule, Europe in the middle ages under the all powerful Monarchy of Rome and the RCC.

Spain was not “under” the Spanish Inquisition. But I agree that Spain from the 15th century onwards presents in many ways an example of how *not *to order a Christian society.
Iran under Islamic rule
Obviously irrelevant.
Europe in the middle ages under the all powerful Monarchy of Rome and the RCC.
As I said before, only someone completely ignorant of medieval history would characterize the Middle Ages that way.

The Papacy may have wished to be an “all-powerful monarchy,” but they never got anywhere near this goal.

The Holy Spanish Inquisition is greatly lied about. The Spanish Inquisition for the most part was fair and justice. Because of the Inquisition Spain was saved from the religious wars and revolutions that were brought on by the protestant revolt.

The Holy Spanish Inquisition is greatly lied about. The Spanish Inquisition for the most part was fair and justice. Because of the Inquisition, Spain was saved from the internal religious wars and revolutions that were brought on by the protestant revolt.

The Spanish Inquisition has nothing in common with Islamic rule. The Spanish Inquisition was good.
