i just got the new catholic encyclopedia… brilliant book. explains everything
That’s a very… interesting… list of theologians to produce in the Traditional Catholic sub-forummost recently Hans von balthasar, Tillich, Rahner, Barth.
Besides the many good answers concerning the such things as the altar (upon which the Holy Sacrifice is offered), the tabernacle (that houses Our Lord Whom is truly and substantially present in the Most Holy Eucharist), statues and paints/stained glass windows (to remind us of the communion of saints and to keep our minds upon holy things, etc.), architecture its self should be taken into consideration.in another module i am required to look at a place of worshio and figure out why the objects there or how they could add to a persons beleif. thats why the actual contents of an Catholic church are there…im asking for a blueprint of a catholic church… … in one of the posts posted a picture of a church with an epistle side and a gospel side, whats the difference?
Yes, towards that end, perhaps it would help you to look briefly into the development of different styles… Byzantine and Romanesque to Gothic, renaissance to baroque, neo-classical, art deco, and modern… Interesting history there. It’s well worth looking into the differences between Gothic and Baroque architecture and art and the Catholic spirit behind them, etc.
It doesn’t say where you are from, but presumably there is a Catholic church nearby. I’m sure if you made an appointment, they’d be happy to give you a tour of the church. There might be a historical church nearby that gives tours regularly. Our Cathedral is always giving tours and explaining the different works of art, the icons, the altar, the symbolism etc. THat would be a good place to start.hi, i just wanted to ask whether what would be in a catholic church? if someone woukld present me an book, or links or website or whatever, of what is in catholic church… e.g. altar etc
