Well you can try to please people, but you can’t please all the people all of the time! (I think someone famous said that and right they were too).
If I say what would please me, I know it would be no good for another person. So a line has to be drawn in the sand and I think the line should be drawn for what works best for the Priests and Religious even if they celebrate that Mass alone because when they consecrate and raise the Host upon the Altar they lift up everyone in their Parish to God and at that hour if I cannot make Mass I make Spiritual Communion with Jesus and do not abandon Him on the Altar nor for that matter in the Tabernacle as all day in the Living Prayer of my life I am always with Him and He is always with me.
Time, time, time, it isn’t ours, what matters is that the Mass is raised and those who can go, do and blessed are they (those consecrated to God) that raise the Mass for us who cannot go as we would like to but do so in spirit.
In the Living Prayer of my life.
" I think the line should be drawn for what works best for the Priests and Religious even if they celebrate that Mass alone"
I strongly disagree. The Eucharist is at the heart of our faith, and what is best for the whole of the faith community is what is best. It should be about as many as possible giving glory to God, not just what is preferred by an “elite” percentage.
Acts 2:41-47 “So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And
all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
Luke 6:31 “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.”
Would we want to celebrate without others, or would we try to accommodate as many as possible, not just what is convenient for a few?
Luke 15:4 “” What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?"
1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.”
God bless,
