Would it be worse to follow no religion
or
To follow the wrong religion?

None of us can know for sure, but tell us what you think based on your religion, experience and personal opinion.
 
As long as you believe in Yahweh as the eternal heavenly father, and obey his commandments you should be fine. 👍

Worse? Not having any belief at all :eek: .
 
to follow nothing is worse. to be completely left on your own, with no hope for supernatural intervention into this broken world and into our own broken lives would be worse than not having everything exactly perfectly right (which no religion does anyway).

Look at the First Commandment. It pretty much says it all.

As Catholics, we believe that we are the True Church for a myriad of reasons.

However, following another religion based on the same God would still be religion faithful to that God, and thus keeping with that commandment.
 
Let me thrown in something further.

From what I understand, it is stated in the Quran that to believe in the Christian God (the Trinity) is an unforgiveable sin.

Furthermore, say that Islam is the right religion, wouldnt it be upsetting to God that one is worshipping the Triune God everyday? Hypothetically, is it possible that if there is another god instead of our God, that he could be getting more and more angry at our “pagan” practices and beliefs. Therefore it is possible that it would be better if one was “neutral” (a non-believer).

To add to this, some Christians claim that if they don’t accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour they won’t be saved. Now, what if the gods of other religions held this view? What would lie in store for those worshiping a false god to the true god?

Finally, if one would worship a false god (without knowing it, of course), how is it technically any different to worshiping money, power, idols etc? I mean they would all be false gods.

What if an atheist live a moral and charitable life based on what he knew? Compare him, with a pagan who follows his religion and who sacrifices other people in accordance with that religion.

From the Christian point of view, who would be in a worse off position?

Perhaps I was unclear. Or perhaps the question should have more than two choices.

My answer follows post #2.

Beats me. That commandment says: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
So, if you don’t have any god, you haven’t got one before Him. On the other hand, if you believe in or worship a different god, you have one before Him. Having no religion is (in a sense) not against the 1st commandment, whilst having a wrong religion very much is.
In terms of the 1st commandment, wrong is worse than none. But, hey, that’s logic, and logic - as we all know - does not apply in theology.

Does an atheist have less chance for God to enter his life than a Hindu for example? I don’t agree.

God doesn’t believe in atheists, hardline, or soft.
 
Muslims believe that even if you believe and follow the one and only acceptable religion to God, it is still not guaranteed that you will be granted a place in Paradise.

Think of it this way – Suppose that an employee chooses to perform only 3 or 4 out of say 10 tasks assigned to him in his job description, then at the end of the year when he is being appraised, can this employee have any complaints that he is not promoted to a much higher position?

Not everyone know what the “tasks” are though? It is not clear for everyone.

In the parable of the talents in Matthew 25 the servant that gets treated harshly is the one that took the masters money and buried it and did nothing with it. He didn’t even try. He didn’t even display it proudly as something he received from the Master even though he didn’t know what to do with it.

To not even try to do the will of God is far worse than hearing Him incorrectly.

In following any religion there is a feed back loop of self checking that is supposed to draw the adherent closer to hearing God. To follow nothing allows for no correction to take place.
