What would be your advice for this person?

I had a blind man tell me I had a beautiful Aura. I will never forget that day and felt honored. Its a fact people missing different senses have other ones sharpened. There is nothing demonic about it. It is pure. We all have different energy. Who knows another day he might have told me I had an ugly aura We all have different gifts and she probably did see someone’s Aura. I really don’t see any need for her to talk to anyone about it. If they don’t have a holistic approach they will just think she’s crazy and she will feel belittled. It’s a gift really. I once read about a little girl who told her mom after church she saw flames on top of peoples heads. Some were bright and others not so much. Mysteries we won’t know until our death but doesn’t mean they don’t exist or they are demonic in nature.

I don’t mean to make it sound like she is trying to mix Christian/pagan beliefs- she is not trying to do that at all. (or at least that is not what it sounds like) All she told me is that when she looked up information about what she saw she found information about chakras and auras and that it matched in description what she has been seeing. (She said its not happening a lot- just here and there) She does not know what to make of it. She is concerned, as am I. I think she was worried to speak with a priest about it, worried she would be dismissed or thought of differently. I trust her judgement, though I am scared for her- not just concern for her and her well being but also because of what I read- and what you say here about chakra theory not being Christian at all… I also don’t know what to make of it. As I said, it somewhat shakes my faith, though not really too… I do realize there are things we don’t know… and the whole thing about people seeing halos and such… could be some sort of spiritual gift ? I don’t know. I am wary of things like this because of my background.

I’m not sure if she spoke with a priest yet or not- or if she is ever going to. She was not going to make any bold moves towards Eastern spirituality or anything- at least from what I gather… though its possible she might. That also worries me, knowing what is taught and all. I did not really want to post it here,but concern led me to asking others opinion on the matter. I think I ought to maybe strongly suggest to her to see a priest- maybe I should go along.

If we have auras, then everybody would have one and they could be seen by some.

Chakra theory is something else; it is inseparable from certain Eastern spiritualities.

I just think she may have been slightly confused.

The auras may not be supernatural. Sometimes I see light glow sround objects sometimes because of migraine headaches, before they happen. The headaches aree also called-migraine with aura. Seeing auras is also a sign of some eye diseases and other things.

Depending on your relationship with the person, suggesting a doctor visit may help to determine if there is a medical cause before assuming anything.

Well, if they are asking you for advice… should you still not say anything? I guess I have nothing to say but advise them to speak to a priest about it. They said that the descriptions of what they saw was exact in matching descriptions of the information about chakras and auras they found. ? It shakes my faith because I consider this person to be devout and I trust them. Why would this be happening to them?

I’m not familiar with this, so maybe someone else looking at this can help.

But it looks to me like some kind of recognition technology of the energies in the body showing externally, which seems to be more a theory and unproven.

What would you say to a Catholic whom you know well states to you they started to see people’s chakra or aura glowing? What if you know this person is a devout Catholic and not someone who is believing in other religions, but swears they saw it and didn’t know what it was until after they read about it when searching for answers? How do you handle such a situation as a Catholic? What advice would you give to them? What would you yourself make of the situation? What do you do if this shakes your faith?

First of all, there is no problem with a Catholic seeing auras around people. I had a friend that could see them all the time. This is the kind of thing that inspired artists to paint halos around the heads of saints. A very holy soul is often said to literally glow with the light of God, like the Apostles said Jesus glowed at the Transfiguration. Some people can see auras around other people, and might even be able to discern something about their spiritual disposition by the colors that they see. Sometimes, it might just be an indication that the other person is very close to God.

You said this person is a very devout Catholic. If someone prays a lot, it might be a bit unusual for them to have this kind of spiritual gift, but it’s not unheard of by any means. One of the promises for praying the Rosary is to receive “signal graces”. This might very well be an example of those kinds of graces. I agree with the folks that suggested that the person should talk to a holy priest, preferably one that has experience with people that have had this kind of spiritual experience or gift. A little spiritual direction might be very helpful to them. They shouldn’t worry too much about it, and you certainly shouldn’t let it shake your faith. It’s not a bad thing.
