If abortion became illegal…
Begin the tribunal trials for “crimes against humanity” for abortion providers.

That would be an unconstitutional example of “ex post facto” law, in this country. If it were being conducted worldwide (say, by the UN), would we want the UN overruling our Constitution? If abortion became illegal…

If society could care for all the children born our of wedlock we would probably have fewer abortions. If abortion is illegal, can society care for all the children born out of wedlock?
I hear what you’re talking about. But I don’t think an abortion ban alone would cause the kind of shock I think you are worried about. It would cause some shock - many bottom-feeding doctors would be put out of business. Planned Parenthood would go out of business. Some women who wanted abortions would seek back-alley abortions. But most would just go back to resenting the government.Lots of people would feel anger and resentment, especially against the Catholic Church, too many to just ignore. (Better let the media handle something like this.) And what if abortion worldwide would suddenly come to an end? What chaos would ensue? Social change like this takes planning. especially when the social pendulum is swinging in favor of abortions and women’s rights.
. .
You got this right. Changing peoples minds to God should be the priority of the Church. Keep teaching the Gospels!!! Ending abortion cold turkey will have a lot of negative consequences unless peoples minds are changed. There has to be a serious reform of the American people’s minds.
Yes, “Pro-life”/“Pro-choice” is too simplistic. The real issue over abortion is how mankind treats sexuality. Is sex something guranteeded for every human to experience at any cost (view of Margaret Sanger) or is there a dignity owed to sex (Catholic Church)? Should sexual experiences be gluttonous, or should they be treasured as an experience leading to God and life? Should eugenics control the fruit of the poor’s condition or should society gather to support the poor? The point I am trying to make is that the issue of abortion is far more than the simplistic “Pro-life” “Pro-choice” frame. No one is actually pro-abortion. But some believe that criminalizing abortion is an ineffective way to solve the problem. If abortion suddenly became illegal, there would still be abortions. Young unwed women will still get pregnant because of young unwed men. Even if abortions were reduced, what about the costs? In this dream world of illegal abortions, is there a plan for prenatal, natal, and child healthcare?
Oh, I didn’t say we shouldn’t want abortion to be banned this very minute forwards. It would be a very good thing. An increase of people would be a great thing for the economy. You got this right. Changing peoples minds to God should be the priority of the Church. Keep teaching the Gospels!!! Ending abortion cold turkey will have a lot of negative consequences unless peoples minds are changed.
In which case, they should not be fornicating. (And the vast majority of U.S. abortions are in unmarried women, which statistics are also available from Guttmcher.)And with a repeal of ACA and the individual mandate to be insured who would pay? Ryan’s budget?
Three-fourths of women who have abortions say they cannot afford a child.
Then, again, if you can’t afford a child, abstain. (What a concept.)If you don’t have health insurance, you should know that the average cost of prenatal care is about $2,000, if you’re paying out of pocket.
No argument. Then, again, if you can’t afford a child, abstain. (What a concept.)
Both partners are committing to the possibility of a child every time they have sex.
It all really is an evangelization issue: how we view sexuality, take responsibility for it as well as the life it creates.Yes, “Pro-life”/“Pro-choice” is too simplistic. The real issue over abortion is how mankind treats sexuality. One other major issue you miss is how the pornography, & human trafficking issues would be influenced. The abortion/contraception erra has brought about a multi-billion dollar industry to exploit sex. An Abortion ban would create a title wave in the adult, porno, & human trafficking industries. Yes, it would get worse before it got better — but I believe toit would balance of sexual dignity.
The trillion dollar question. How do we change it? How do we effectively evangelize?
