What would it take to convince you that God doesn’t exist?

All my reasons for believing in Him would have to be satisfactorily answered by better explanations, and if that happened I would become an agnostic because I would have no reason to believe in God or to disbelieve in Him. To move from agnostic to atheist, someone would have to come up with evidence that God does not exist. One possible way to do that would be to prove that the concept of God involves a logical contradiction.
 
A notarized letter from…wait for it…GOD! 🙂

It can’t be done!
 
Now wondering who God would use for a notary. Is there a specific saint or angel, or maybe He would pop down to earth like in the “Oh, God” movies and press some John Denver type milquetoast notary into His service.

If it could be show that the foundation of all reality is essentially irrational, then i would have no reason to think God exists since things can just pop out of nothing and causally dependent beings can exist without a cause.

Everything can just be a brute fact requiring no explanation whatsoever.

Logical contradiction was my first thought also, then I though that a contradiction may likely change my view of God but not necessarily my belief in God.

For those saying there is nothing that will change “my” belief in God, isn’t that similar to an atheist saying “I need extraordinary evidence” The atheist likely believes there is no evidence to be found.
 
It would take more evidence than it would take to convince me I don’t exist.:eek:
 
We need only turn to him. Romans 8:38-39 - “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
 
Once we know in our hearts that God exists, there is nothing that could change our minds.

My view may fall short on some details, but many Christians claim that the Jews return to Israel is a fulfilled prophecy. ANd with that, Israel is to never fall again. So assuming that this prophecy is correct, then I would find the God of the Bible to not be credible if Israel were to fall again. However, I would still be open to the possibility of other higher beings existing.

Well, that’s a belief held by the more Evangelical side of Christianity. The Church doesn’t teach that.

The Church was founded by Christ. She cannot teach anything other than what he taught her. Therefore, she does not make speculations (based on errant biblical interpretation) into doctrine. 😉
 
Not happening. Long story short, I’ve dabbled in the skeptic community enough to know that God is real.

If everything were just a brute fact requiring no explanation whatsoever that very assertion would require no explanation whatsoever. In other words it would be absurd…
