What would it take to convince you that God doesn’t exist?

Judging by the way most atheists on this forum attack theism they’re not agnostics in any sense of the term but militant atheists…

I am interested in how someone would “realize” such a thing. We are talking about a personal God, that is someone with whom we can have a relationship, and thereby come to know. I can say that I realized that God exists. How would you realize that this would be an invention or a lie? At that point you are not talking about a personal God, but rather the descriptions, the ideas that are being proposed by Christians and others. Your belief then would be that this part of society’s shared wisdom and knowledge is false.

The fact is that you cannot know what is known about God until you too have a relationship with Him.

Agnostic atheism would be a belief like all others. There can be no evidence that personal gods are human made and could not exist.

As you say, an agnostic atheist “can’t deny for the existence of any possible unknown gods”. That god unknown to you, is God Himself.

👍 “often” could be replaced by “not”! Faith or scepticism is ultimately the result of a personal decision. If it is genuine it cannot be inherited.

You can be agnostic and criticize religions, dogmas and religious gods.

Science does not yield knowledge of God and so one can be agnostic of God’s existence epistemologically speaking, that is to say as far as science is concerned i don’t “know” that God exists. Yet, i can still have faith in the existence of God.

Given that “agnosticism” means that “knowledge of God’s existence is unknowable”, and given that IWantGod’s post specifically stated “scientifically agnostic”, it’s very possible to believe that there’s no scientific evidence to definitively prove/disprove God’s existence, yet believe through faith that God is real.
