What Would You Like to Tell Your Priest?

I thought that this would be an interesting thread. What would you like to tell your priest or men who are preparing for the priesthood? I have a lot of ideas and may make several posts. Anyone up for discussion?

Spend much time in prayer. Make a daily holy hour with the Blessed Sacrament exposed and attend daily Mass.
 
Holiness: Be holy, Father. Not grim, sterile, prissy holiness. We hope you laugh a lot and that your life will be full of joy. But be holy. Be steeped in prayer. Go often into the quiet of the Sanctuary and prostrate yourself before the Blessed Sacrament. Contemplate Christ Crucified and make Him the source of your priestly life. Be holy and call us to holiness.
 
I often think being a priest can be lonely. Surrounded by many but sometime alone in leading the flock. Therefore, I have told my Father that I like when he leads us and whenever I give him a hug I tell him that I love him. God Bless him.
 
Well after being Catholic for 35 years. It would be to say a prayer to Saint Michael everyday, after mass or in the rectory and to try and put good people in charge of things.
 
That I am deeply grateful for his kind ministry and that I pray for him every time I pray because I know he’s always in a spiritual warfare. :gopray:
 
I have a particular Priest in mind when I say this.

Father P. I think you are the closest model of Jesus that I have ever had the blessing to meet. I pray every day that you will return to us soon.

I would also like to say something to people who falsely accuse Priests of horrible acts. May God bless you and touch your hearts so that you know the pain you cause to the person you falsely accuse, to their families, to their parish, to the Church in general and to all of humanity.

Please pray the Rosary for all of our Priests :blessyou:

Liturgy: You are our “Alter Christus.” That’s an enormous responsibility and an honor that paltry words can only fail to describe. You stand in the gap between the Light and the Darkness and you call Mercy down upon the Earth. Please celebrate the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass like you yourself do genuinely believe that What you hold in your hands is the Redeemer of the World. Please don’t try and put the stamp of your own ego on the Mass. Celebrate according to the rubrics (they were put there because Holy Mother Church in Her Wisdom thought they needed to be there), but don’t blow through them. We’ve got time and we need to spend it for that one hour a week by stepping into Eternity. Celebrate transparently and let us see Jesus, the Priest and the Sacrifice. We will hold you in reverence all the more for letting us see Him.

For men preparing for the priesthood I would tell them that I am so happy that they have choosen to answer YES to Gods call for the priesthood. We need Holy men in this secular time!

To the priests in my Church: “Thank you very much for all that you are doing for us!!! It would be impossible to make it without you”! We need you! YOU ARE SO WELCOME AND WE ARE SO GRATEFUL THAT YOU ARE THERE FOR US!"

Confession: Offer it a lot. We know that there are few of you and many of us, but we need the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We need absolution. What about the hour or hour and a half before every daily mass? Try and fit the penance to our circumstances. Challenge us to pick up our cross and follow Jesus. Please follow the formal rubric or ritual and use the words the Church Herself provides. Those are words that are intended to resonate long after we leave the confessional.
 
Be not afraid… We love and support you… heck, we can’t live without your prayers and guidence…

Thanks to you for your sacrifice, none of us here could ever repay you for your dedication, love, and support…

Thanks again, we certainly don’t deserve you…
 
As with Christ, your bride is the Church. Love Her and be faithful to Her.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do. I am praying for you every day.
 
Keep in the forfront of your mind, the command of the holy father, “be not afraid.”:

never compromise morals because it would be aqukuard. if a person approches you, and you know they have done somthing wrong and it is relevant to your interaction (eg cohabitating people seeking mairrage), tell them. and never remove a petition for the respect of all human life from your mass just because you have a liberal congregation.

Do not fear how the public will act towards you on account of your less faithful brothers, remember we support and love you and we know you are not like that. So proudly wear your collar, clerics, even a cassock if you want.

Always remember that the most important part of your ministry is the confection of the Euchrist, you are first and possibly only line of defence against the desecration of God himself. make it very clear what the requirements are for the reception of communion, constantly stress the true presence and the meaning of the word is and if you know a public sinner is present, do not be afraid to make and example. but do not use this authority as a weapon, but as a sheild to protect Christ’s body and blood.

be holy, be faithful, be joyful, we call you father and we mean it, we will support you if you ask for help.

*Amen and Amen again!! I thank God for every priest’s dedication and patience and love for each of his brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for loving Our Lord so much as to give your life to Him and to allow Him to use you as He sees fit. *

Stay true to Church’s teachings and do not try to experiment with the faith. Try to set up perpetual adoration in your church and encourage people to visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Also, wear the Roman collar or cassock to show others that you are a priest and not just an average day Joe. Please, pretty please.
When you say words of Consecration please do so as you mean it. Try to stress them out and when you raise up the chalice and the bread, pause for a while so people could adore Jesus.
