As you know, libraries have dollar used book sales on an on going basis. An older lady was reaching for a book and a younger man push her out of the way to grab it. The young man, who attended an assembly of god (Edited) church, said to her that god had saved that book for him and that Satan sent her ahead to steal the book. She looked at him like he was nuts, and asked him what church he attended. After, the older person left, I told the young man you are selfish, not Christ centered.

It is Bill Gothard who teaches that when you are going to recieve something, like choosing a book off the self that Satan sends someone ahead of you to steal it.

What would I say to him? Not much. I’d probably clip the little bugger’s ear for putting his hands on an elderly woman.

What a perversion of religion! You did well, BD.

i don’t agree with Bill Gotherd. It can’t be from God if you have to be rude to follow Him.

what is the scripture passage we are discussing here?
I think Clubhouse is the fruitcake and nuts forum

"…said to her that God had saved that book for him and that Satan sent her ahead to steal the book.
 Wow!

That behavior is so rude, selfish and un-Christian it must be Satan inspired.😉

The young man, who attended an assembly of god (Edited) church,
As if his (Edited) church would condone that behavior. I also happen to be a member of an Assembly of God church, and resent this attack on my church. Neither I nor the AoG would condone that behavior.

The AoG practices a valid trinitarian baptism. Assuming that young man is baptized, he is your brother in Christ, and deserves your correction, but not your condescension.

(Edited)

BTW, I don’t know who Bill Gothard is, or what he teaches, but as far as I know he is in no way associated with the AoG.

NOTE: The AoG is about as mainstream Christian as the Southern Baptists (though they might disagree) or the Methodists or Presbyterians.

Granted the individual in question was out of line, but one should no more deride the whole AoG for this person’s misconduct than one should deride the Catholic Church for the misconduct of some few pontiffs or other individuals.

As for Bill Gothard…

Please note the editing of posts in this thread and by all means carry on.
Very sincerely,

I would have told him the same thing.there is no reasonn that anyone i don’t care what your religious denomination is for someone to be so rude especially with an elderly person.thanks for standing up for some one especially for someone who may not have had the strength to stand up for her self

We don’t really know God very well-or recognized His will for us-until we love our neighbor rather than fear them, knowing that we’re all sinners who He loves unconditionally.

The passage Gothard uses is

Matthew 13:18-19 (Good News Translation)

Listen, then, and learn what the parable of the sower means. Those who hear the message about the Kingdom but do not understand it are like the seeds that fell along the path. The Evil One comes and snatches away what was sown in them.

:o

Gothard has the habbit of taking texts from context and reading meanings into them that are not there. This text does not teach that Satan sends someone to steal a book from you before your buy it.

I would pop him on the right cheek then tell him to offer up his left cheek. Maybe Satan sent this young kid to stop the elderly woman from getting the book. 😃
