What would you say to people who feel that they cannot fit God into their lives?

People tend to be quite busy in their lives. They have financial issues, that one concert to rehearse for, college homework, you name it. They sometimes feel that they can barely get ahold of their secular lives, which are like empty jars. Rocks, which represent life’s problems, fill that jar. What if they feel that God is another big rock that can’t fit in that jar? What would you say to them?

Those are just excuses. One does not need to be doing those things 24-7. I’ll bet real money people can find time if they turned off the TV or the internet for a little while even. Or use EWTN or a prayer app. Now there’s an idea.

And really, it’s not that time-consuming. It’s a matter of priorities. There’s plenty of time to work and fulfill our duties. To quote a priest “most of us are not called to a deep prayer life”. So really, I don’t think God is asking THAT much extra. A little effort during the day would probably go quite a ways.

And yes, I need to work on that, too. But sometimes people get so set in their routines.

Easy question: Just as there is no salvation outside the True Catholic Church, as well, there is no salvation for any Catholic, who does not follow a daily prayer and Bible reading schedule. See the excellent one found for workers, or the other one, for non workers, at the pastoral menu by RJMI.

There are prayer apps? Never knew that…

In reading the question, it reminds me of the parable of the seeds (Mathew 13, I think). Would the people mentioned in the question count as the “seeds falling among the thorns”?
The concerns/worries of this world cause them to be “unfruitful” and the word “choked” by aforementioned concerns/worries?

Of course, even the most godly person will have worries and concerns, but I guess at least one thing that matters is that these concerns/worries should not supersede or completely overshadow “godly” concerns. Not sure if I am using the correct words here…

At the very minimum, the person shouldn’t completely ignore God or put God aside totally just because they are too “busy”… As SuperLuigi states, that does kind of seem like an excuse…

philipofJMJ, just to know, what do you mean by True Catholic Church (as opposed to Catholic Church/Roman Catholic Church)?

Go to www.johnthebaptist.us and you can learn the difference between:
The True Catholic God, and the false gods
The True Catholic Church, and the false so called “churches”, aka “meeting houses of heretics” as they are known as.

Phillip seems to be no longer with us. RJMI is a break-away group which is NOT in union with the Pope.

I agree.Five years ago, when I decided I was going to begin my day in prayer,I cancelled the newspaper. The time I previously spent reading it,is now spent in conversation with Our Lord.🙂

We make time and space for the things that matter to us. We set our priorities. Yup, it’s true that we have things we MUST do in order to survive but since most of us do have time to do other things as well, if God/faith/religion/spirituality are important to them (or at least if they recognize it’s important) they will make time and space.

Many people don’t find those things important, and so they are low priority, so to them it’s true they are too busy.

It’s their way of saying it’s not important to them.

Did not know what RJMI was. Did some net searching…

I’m assuming that this RJMI is some sort of “sedevacantist” group? Yet separate from SSPX?

Typing ‘True Catholic Church’ into the Google search bar brings up this:

Lucian Pulvermacher
  1. Lucian Pulvermacher was a traditionalist schismatic Roman Catholic priest. He was the head of the “True Catholic Church,” a small conclavist group that elected him Pope Pius XIII in October 1998. He resided in Springdale, Washington, United States.*Wikipedia

Then He won’t fit them into His life-their loss, by their choice, but one He allows us the freedom to make.

Thank you so much for the answers! It’s great to know your thoughts on such a scenario.

You know, this also reminded me of one thing a priest said in a talk I attended: “If you’re saying that you do not have time for God, you’re lying. You always have time.”

Reminds me of Mary and Martha. Jesus, Himself, reveals what He expects of us in that instance. He wants us to spend time with Him. He didn’t stipulate how much. Just some time, while you can, because you may not always have the choice.

There are a bunch of different groups which are not united with the Pope. They see the Catholic Church since V2 (or earlier or later) as having apostasized. The SSPX is actually the group which seems to me to be the closest to the Church–I am not sure of their current situation.

I warn people away from these groups. For personal reasons, I investigated them and it was not good for my spiritual life, and in the end, I realized there was nothing there. I don’t think we are supposed to talk about them much here.

I have “Pure Faith” on my IPhone. Has prayers for many occasions and the daily mass readings as well.

I was a judge for an app development contest on the Georgia Tech campus a few years back. We gave first place to a pastor that had made a Windows Phone prayer application. I can’t remember what it was called. But I remember thinking that it was pretty well thought out. IT had options for making anonymous prayer request, finding request for prayers that other people were requesting, and even for being able to message a pastor.
