Is there anything you would tell your younger self if you had the chance? Something regarding God or life or anything in general, something where you really had to learn the hard way?

“Miss Carrie, you are worth waiting for. Any guy who pressures you to ‘prove your love’ by having premarital sex doesn’t really love you. Save yourself for the man who will be your husband. If your boyfriend truly loves you, he will respect your wishes. I know it sounds old-fashioned in these days of women’s liberation [it was the 1970’s], but some day you’ll be glad you waited…and regret it if you don’t.” 😊

What the world has to offer is only fool’s gold. Don’t go chasing after something of no eternal value, you will only be disappointed and left with a deficit.

Look, kid – it’s not going to be like this forever. You will eventually get out of there.
In the meantime, get some regular exercise. Lay off the junk food: you’ll be glad you did.
Also, save some money for the long term. You’ll be glad of that too.

I’d say to him “You should’ve listened to your mama from day 1 when you were just a new born”. 😃

I would say: Go to Confession more often, remain faithful to God and the Catholic Church, and strive to become a Saint one day… these are the only things that will bring you happiness.

If only I’d known that then! (But would I have listened? I was a teen, after all!)

As it is, thanks and praise to our Lord and God for being patient, writing straight with crooked lines, and always bringing good out of evil! 🙂

Don’t pick up that cigarette!

The abuse wasn’t your fault. . . get over your fear and embarrasment and tell your parents or, at least, your youth director about it. You can trust THEM.

I could probably write an essay on all the things I could have done differently. But the one thing would be to trust God more. I think If I had some things would have turned out better.

Sometimes other people are right and have a valuable point of view. If you keep your mouth shut once in a while, you might learn this by experience. The world does not need your “wisdom” every single time you think it does.

Lose that 30 pounds now, while it’s easy and still only 30.

Study piano.

Buy lots Apple & Microsoft stock the day they hit the market.

I’d say, “Read Matt. 16:18-19, John 6:53-56, and John 8:11.”

Don’t take drugs. It’s not wonderful and exciting and full of discovery. It’s a sad, stupid, gross cliche and there’s nothing worthwhile about it. It doesn’t free you and isn’t a real escape. It ruins much more than you know. It’s not cool. It may be what some popular people do, but that doesn’t make it cool the way you want it to be – freeing and proof that no one can tell you what to do. It just makes you worse off in every possible way and hurts you more than anyone else.
Don’t smoke. Just because you know people in their old age who smoke doesn’t prove it won’t hurt you. It really doesn’t. Pleasure and relaxation can be had in ways that don’t harm you.
Don’t drink. You aren’t just too young, you’re a person who can’t handle it. It won’t always feel this good. Soon – sooner than you would ever have guessed – you will be sick and angry allt he time and unable to concentrate or do anything worthwhile and everything will get much worse. You can’t just quit as soon as it gets bad. by the time it gets bad you will have an extrmely hard time quitting. If eveyone you know including the people who normally approve of getting high, even the people just trying to take advantage of you, is getting scared and saying you have to quit drinking, doesn’t that tell you you ought to listen? If people you would hardly expect to hear worrying about anyone in their lives, people who pride themselves on how little they care about anything, are nagging you about it, quit.
There is a God and He loves you.
Take a shower. Brush your teeth. Go to the dentist every chance you get. Don’t be scared. It’s safert han things you do all the time, after all.
Men are not kidding when they say they aren’t like us. They don’t even know how different they are. They are thinking about sex many times more than you can possibly imagine they could be and they think you are always giving signals about it. They think they are seducing you when you think you are hanging out and they happen to be cruising by. That’s why they say such strange things out of the blue. They won’t change into something you can comprehend just because you tell them to, either. They can’t even when they tell themselves to. You don’t have to be friends with as many people as possible, even if drugs might be in it for you, even if it keeps you from feeling alone, even if it stops your moods from spinning to be surrounded by smiling faces. It’s dangerous, dangerous, dangerous to waste your youth having one-sided conversations and staring at the walls hallucinating. You need these years to establish real friends and a career and your basic fitness for the rest of your life.
If the world doesn’t end before you’re 18 or 20 or 25 what will you do then?

Wow, I think I would need a whole page of posts, but really I would say, listen to Mom & Dad more, their ideas weren`t old-fogey, like I thought at the time. But mostly, live by the Church and Her teachings, stay focused on Jesus, always. Could have saved myself lots of unecessary hardships and heartaches.

This is going to sound wierd, but I would tell myself to fail one year of grade school. I was born in December and was always the youngest in my class. I think the extra year of maturity would have helped me make some better choices.

I wouldn’t say anything…I don’t want to change anything about my past. I wasn’t the perfect girl during my teenage years but what I had gone through helped me to become the person I am today. But I also thank God that He helped to lead me in the right direction. I pray that others, who have strayed from the path, will also be called to a more holy and fulfilling life.

It wouldn’t matter. My younger self wouldn’t have listened. I definitely learn all my lessons the hard way.

I’d tell myself to drop that Playboy and run like heck away from it. Of all the bad things I’ve gotten involved with throughout life (drugs, drinking, fornication, etc.) the addiction I created to porn is a living hell. I gave up pot, cocaine, acid and a 15 year, 1 1/2 pack a day cigarette habit easy compared to porn. Those other things damaged my body and my mind but porn eats away at my soul. As much as I hate it I find it hard sometimes to not fall into it.

Yep, I’d give my younger self a very stern, look me in the eyes, this-is-the-most-serious-thing-you’ll-ever-hear talk. I thank God for my faith and Christ for his sacraments because without those I’d be a lost soul. And I thank Him for this forum and all you faithful brethren.
