Growing up, I remember being able to go to Benediction as part of Marian Devotions every Tuesday. All the prayers and hymns are still in the back of the missalettes. I haven’t been to a church yet in four years since coming back to the Church that has benediction. I have only experienced Benediction at times when I attend Mass with Fr. Thomas Dubay.

Do Catholics still do that? How can I find a church that has Benediction?

Well there are several churches that have it regularly here near the cornfield.😊

If you want to find out - well, call up and ask :newidea:

Very often Benediction will occur at the end of a period of Adoration/Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament but might not be specifically mentioned in the schedule as ‘Benediction’.

Most of the churches around here will have benediction once a week or more often.

In my high school chapel we have Exposition and Benediction on just about every First Friday from October to May. (First Friday in September is usually too early in the year… sometimes the first day of classes; in June it often falls right during exams.)

The chaplain and I alternate giving giving the Benediction, depending upon who has class during the period it is scheduled.

In my parish we do Benediction at a minimum of once a month, and usually much more often.

Deacon Ed

We have it Saturday mornings and on the 5th of the month. Both are at the close of 24 hour adoration.

My Parish has it Tuesday after 12 hours of Adoration. We also have it every Wen. night in the summer program (Totus Tuus) I am teaching for highschoolers!

we have a holy hour once a month, and on vigils of major solemnities with adoration and benediction.

there are 3 parishes within driving distance (if you have an unlimited gas credit card) that have perpetual adoration and benediction once a week.

You can find it in most dioceses, you just have to look.

Tip your pastor will probably not introduce the practice unless people start asking for it, because it is very disheartening to schedule a holy hour and find no people there.

Our Parish has Perpetual Adoration ( in the chaple) but every Wed, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the Nave with a Benediction following.

We also have that on First Fridays and major feast days too.

We have it on different nights in the deanery, so any day of the week.

Really, the others aren’t kidding- Go check out your diocese web site, or masstimes.org.

Call local churches to find out if there is Benediction near you.

Yes, Catholics still do that! The school where I teach has Mass, Adoration, confessions and Benediction on First Fridays.

We have a Perpetual Adoration Chapel and we do benediction on the first Friday of every month.

Our sister Parish has Benediction every Sunday AM before the early Mass (Confessions as well). We have perpetual Adoration at our Parish.

We have Benediction the first Sunday of every month.

We had a special Exposition and Benediction for the victims of the midwest flooding this past Sunday after Mass.

I already did check out masstimes.org before I posted my question here. I’ve checked all the churches in my town, and several in a neighboring town.

So, it seems to me that it really is a devotion that is dying out. 😦 It has always been my favorite Catholic devotion. I love the hymns from Benediction.

Did you check personally, or only on MassTimes? While MassTimes is great, it’s not always accurate for every parish.

So, if you want Benediction, go talk to your priest and **ASK **him to start doing it. Ask him, and see what he says.

Ditto, except our benediction is Thursday. It’s not First Friday if there’s no benediction.
