Whatever happened to former priest Corapi?

One of the things that bothers me most about his decision not to fight the charges to the bitter end is that he always spoke about his father and how his father would tell him, “Don’t give up. Don’t you EVER give up!”

Evidently, Father Corapi did not take his father’s advice with regard to the charges that Father Corapi says are false and untrue. He gave up. He did not fight, and he left his ministry and his priestly duties behind…

I wonder if he even attends church anymore. I pray for him.
I just saw his video on youtube about him talking about his father and following his advice. Sad he didn’t follow it but there may be more to the story. I wasn’t to fond of him personally but he was right on, on everything else.

I personally think he is innocent… but even if he were not
Where is all the Mercy ? I was a satanist for years and the
devil likes to play on the emotional level…Not the Factual level.
If there was anyone in our times Fr. Corapi would of been on the
devils most wanted list…Fr. Corapi is a TRUE SPIRITUAL
WARRIOR + + +
Let’s All True Catholic Prayer warriors pray for him increasingly
We love you Father Corapi in our Rosary Daily

What mercy was denied him? He was given the chance to explain certain matters but he refused. Instead of presenting evidence he left his priest and his religious vocation. Every priest/religious is under the authority of his superiors who have the right to ask for an accounting of his ministry. If he refuses to do so, his superior’s hands are tied. The superior can only take whatever action he sees fit. We can pray that he’ll come back, but that decision is his to make.

That is a good point…I was saying in general …of giving him the benefit of the doubt…I think it had something to do with due process also …I just have a special place in my heart …for Father Corapi has been a great influence in the Roman Catholic Faith from satanism…THE HOLY SEE HOLDS THE KEYS !!! He knows what happened or didn’t happen… and I just hope and pray it all gets fixed and he can preach again… prayer is needed for ALL INVOVLED REGUARDLESS OF POSTION AND IN TRUTH OF THE MATTER…peace be with you.

To me 2 things may have happened.
  1. He’s guilty and doesn’t want things about him to be revealed
  2. He’s innocent but many priest around him feel threatened by him for reasons unknown.

Many of the saints went through similar situations in which envious people smeared them. The saints who went through this trial were obedient, letting their superiors sort things out. St. Padre Pio comes to mind. The thing to do is to give all the information to one’s superior and let him deal with it because God will vindicate the innocent in due time. After all, no one need be bothered about his repudation who is faithful to God, for when God sees fit the truth will come to light. So, we need not speculate or make any judgments but rather leave it in God’s hands. 🙂

He was shown no mercy by either forum or blogosphere Catholics. None.

If he had been a secular figure, or even a Protestant minister, he would have had his day in court. As it was, his order, the Catholic media, and others, tried him in absentia and ‘disappeared’ him.

No, not true, at least about Catholics on CAF. There were many sympathetic to him here and stated so quite forcefully.

Again, no. He refused to cooperate and pulled himself out of his order and the priesthood. If he ever decides to bow to his superior’s judgment, he is free to do so. He never got a “trial” because he didn’t want one.

If you watch the very first videos of Fr. Corapi, you would see a very humble man in a grey robe. He wasn’t very dynamic at that time. He evolved into a good speaker. And continued to evolve into an entertaining speaker, and then evolved into something that made me uncomfortable. He was telling stories about himself that I truly had a hard time believing. The behavior of his audience at “conferences” was bizarre. It was like they were coming to see a rock star. I started to gently tell people to be careful about him, but they thought I was nuts. I wasn’t.

I think he was a very honest priest to begin with, but all that adoration does something to a soul, and it isn’t good. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy for Fr. Corapi.

This is why the Church is very wary of the “cult of personality” that can overtake a priest/religious and the people that attach themselves to them. We had a case of that my area that the bishop had to squash. He limited what the priest could do–confining him to serving only his parish. People were quite angry and a lot of nasty things were said about the bishop. But, he was right to do it, for the sake of both the priest and the people who had become overly devoted to him. The priest obeyed and the whole thing died away.

Do you have a name to these videos or know where to find them? Thanks

I think you can probably find all of them on youtube. Dressed in a gray robe are the earlier videos.
