Whatever is a Manichee?

In St Augustines Confessions, he complains about a group of people called Manichees.They told the future by astrology & were not Christian.And they made up silly stories about trees and didnt want anyone to eat fruit.Who exactly were they?

It’s tricky to summarize these folks in just a phrase or two, but it exhinits dualism in a very prominent way. Dualism holds that there is a good and evil principle, which are opposite AND EQUAL. It thus denies that God is, in his nature, both all good and uniquely supreme.
