I’m browsing around trying to find a good Christmas movie (being the holidays and all )
a lot of holiday shows are inappropriate.
What’s your favorite Christmas movie that you would recommend?

Thanks and Merry Christmas! 🙂

‘Home Alone’ is to this day my favorite holiday movie.😊

‘White Christmas’ is wonderful. 😃 I also like Jim Henson’s ‘A Christmas Toy’.

Well, “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a perennial favorite. I also like “Come to the Stable”–a little known movie from the 40’s starring Loretta Young as a nun trying to found a children’s hospital. And “Holiday Inn” focuses on Christmas for a good part of its story. I guess I like the classics. 😃 “The Santa Clause” is a good one, too.

Thanks for your recommendation 🙂
I’ve never seen that movie.

Merry Christmas 🙂
It’s rated PG, and it’s pretty clean. Joe Pesci plays the main “bad guy”, and it’s very funny. I have to warn you though, the movie came out in the early 1990’s and is pretty cheesy, but my husband and I love to watch it together every year.

My favorites are “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “The Santa Clause” (1&2, I didn’t care for 3), “A Christmas Story” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (both the animated 30 minute TV show from 1966 & the movie with Jim Carey).

The Passion of the Christ. That’s why He came on Christmas after all.

I’ll also vote for It’s a Wonderful Life and add one for A Christmas Carol.

Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire

White Christmas with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney

The Bishops Wife with David Niven, Cary Grant.

If you can find ‘The Nativity Story’, it has outstanding cinematography, in my opinion the best version of the Nativity.

Also ‘Christmas Story (2007)’ (Finnish), the story of how Santa Claus come to be Santa.

But if you looking to comedy, you can’t beat ‘Home Alone’

As a bonus: ‘Rare Exports’, another Finnish. I haven’t watched yet, but they say Santa Claus is a really bad guy in this one .

👍 Good list. I enjoy “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “A Christmas Story” every year, sometimes more than once.

A good made for tv movie is A Dog Named Christmas. A bit sappy but good. It is about a farm family that all but the youngest (about 18 year old boy with Down’s Sydr.) that foster a dog from the local shalter for Chirstmas what happens. 🙂

Come to the Stable - Excellent movie about 2 nuns trying to get mobsters to help them build a church Rossalind Russell and Celeste Holmes.

All mine to give - based on a true story in the 1800’s about a boy who has to give away his brothers and sisters on Christmas day

Both Patrick Stewart and George C Scott did very good versions of A Christmas Carol.

Don’t forget animated shorts–Charlie Brown Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas are my favorites. (I am not fond of the Jim Cary version…1/2 hour is better for that story-poem. It does not need deconstruction.)

My all time favorite remains the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. It’s really just brilliant. Perfect.

I also really enjoy a movie from about 5 years ago or so, called “The Nativity”. It’s very moving and touching.

We always watch It’s a Wonderful life on Christmas Eve.

I think Elf is a classic as well. Original, clean, Christmasy and so funny. Not a Will Ferrell fan but this movie is really entertaining.

Two more good ones. We’ll have enough for the whole Octave of Christmas at this rate!

You mean Loretta Young not Rosalind Russell. RR played Mother Superior in “The Trouble with Angels” and “Where Angels Go Trouble Follows.” 😉

Both Patrick Stewart and George C Scott did very good versions of A Christmas Carol.
Both were adequate, but for my money the best Scrooge ever was Alastair Sim in the classic 1951 version. They filled in some blanks to create a really good telling of his story and the supporting cast were excellent, as well.
